Anyone know how the new rating like dodge, hit, crit,.. compare too the old ones.
What should we go after for bear and/or cat

I think 14 critrating gives you 1% critchance against a equal leveled mob/player.
Thats the thing with the new rating system, the old gave a flat % for a item, which was not very good since a lvl 55 basically had the same critchance vs a 60 as another 60 had with the same stats. As of the new system you should have a LOT bigger chance to crit vs a lowlvl than vs someone your lvl or higher. (hence the rating scales with your and your targets level)
Correct me if im wrong.

I'm aware that 14 crit equals 1% crit chance as well as the STR vs AGI issue.

However, I'm have no idea how to (or whether or not to) choose items with + hit (and maybe stat bonuses) over items with decent stat bonuses.

Can anyone shed some light on how they make their gear choices?

Cheers,

Wowwiki has an excellent over view of how the new combat ratings translate into acutal, useful info. Check it out here. (http://www.wowwiki.com/Combat_Rating_System)

What we really need is an AddOn that rates equipment and gives it a score that can be compared to other equipment in-game. I'm looking for an AddOn developer to work on that.

I have had an Addon called Healthpoints which rated equipment for their healing use (int, spi, mp5 ...)
I think they used to have an addon for other kinds of gear too, but i'm not sure
and i havent got the new one yet so i dont have a link
But you will prob able to find it on curs ofc

Hrmm. Iirc, @ 60 a druid has roughly 95% to hit in forms. so about 5% or 50 hit rating was good enough to ensure you about 99% hit (can't get 100% to hit).

Trying to figure out how much that is @ 70..might be around 7-8% to hit is needed to get 99% (so about 70-80 hit rating) but I might be wrong.

Now THAT would be awesome! If only I were a programmer....

Thanks for the wowwiki link.

There is such an addon...Rogues use it for Agility Equivalency. I forgot the name but my rogue buddy uses it to evaluate his gear. Basically it takes the rogue model (Agi=dodge, crit, armor) and compounds all the other stats to give it a "score". The higher the score, the better the choice, of course this is for rogues, I used it for a time for my feral kitty gear and it worked fine. As for a druid version I have not seen one, but if soemone out there was into programming, they could take the rogue version and convert to druid:)

There's a good thread about this subject on the Europe druid forums. I've been using this formula for determining my upgrades and I think it's pretty solid.

+1 Str = 2.40
+1 Agi = 2.39
+1 AP = 1.00
+1 Weapon Skill Rating (Feral Skill for druids) = 0.89
+1 Hit Rating = 1.37
+1 Critical Strike Rating = 1.57

Uhm, i was pretty sure +1 Agi only gave 1 attackpower in ANY form. Can someone inform me if this is wrong and why?
Or is this +1 Agi = 2.39 dps?
In that case, why was i told to stack up on strength rather than agi? I mean if the DPS gain is just about the same, but agi gives dodge, armor, crit and such as well as dps then whyyy strength ?

Because after a certain attack power threshold (around 1700 AP) agility ends up helping your dps more overall.

Healpoints and Tankpoints addon do this for Tanking and Healing. It could be adopted to use that interesting formula.

Those numbers have no relationship to DPS or AP; it's a ratings system, the higher the number, the more DPS you will do with that item.

The biggest problem I have with the formulas is that it weights "+ to hit" much more than I would. On top of that, there comes a point when you only need so much "+ to hit", and at that point adding more doesn't affect your DPS.

So basically what u mean is stack up on strength and +attackpower up until 1700 AP, then go for +agi items?
