In the above topic, someone claims they got 33.5k armour and 42% dodge. This seems incredible to me.

Am I just a noob or is it only members of hardcore raiding/pvp guilds that get that sort of stats?

I personally haven't tried PVP since a couple of AV's when I hit 60, ofc I did some of the scheisse before that, but I never really liked PVP (I don't know if it was because i sucked or the reason i sucked), now I am tempted because of the two hand mace i can't remember the name of which seems amazing for Kitty form.

Any advise for a PVP noob starting (again) at 70?

I was tanking voidreaver last night with 29998 Armor (wtf? i couldn't have 1 more AGI?) and 39% dodge in four peices of T4 and my clefthoof chestpeice. When I used the new mangle idol (+65 agi on proc), i was at ~45% dodge and 30128 armor. When I triggered my Badge of Tenacity, I was at 55% dodge and 30368 armor. I imagine if I had full T5, armor rings, badge of tenacity, mark of tyranny, my base stats could easily be 33.5k armor and 42%+ dodge.

If you have access to full Kara Clears, Gruul kills and some time to farm, ~29k armor and ~33% dodge should be very reasonable to reach. A bit more requires raid/pvp gear.

Fully raidbuffed (no totems, but all the other stuff) I am around 29k armor, 45% dodge and 23k health. And I have only stuff from Kara, Gruul, heroics and PvP(Arena and BGs). You could even do without Gruul to reach that.
With some of the new heroic rewards and the new S3 gear I think I can get 1-2k more armor and 1-2% dodge easily.

So for someone who runs 25-mans getting that values should easily be possible.

It is indeed possible to obtain ridiculous stats, with the right buffs and gear. I personally have broken the 20k health mark at one stage (with trinkets activated).

I've heard that bear druids wearing some of the best gear the game has to offer can achieve almost 30k health. I found this difficult to believe as well, until I started gearing up and saw what a difference some extra stats makes.

That's the druid in question. By just his gloves he's got access to T6. He's going to have some pretty ridiculous stats at that point.

I also did a good bit of PvP pre-BC, then focused on leveling to 70, keying for Kara and leveling my alt. I've gotten back into PvP recently, and yes, it's worth it (esp arena). The gear is awesome (again, esp arena- T5 equivalent) for PvP AND PvE and it's not that hard to get, it just takes a while. Start by doing enough BGs to get the PvP trinket (the one that removes all movement impairing effects- the cheap one for 2800 honor), then join an arena team (5v5 if you can, the bigger the better). It's also a good idea to have a 2v2 team with a close friend so if your 5v5 team can't get together you have at least some points for the week. Be prepared to get owned the first couple of months until you learn the tricks, and especially, get some PvP gear with resilience on it. Your team has to play at least 10 matches a week to get points (weeks start with Tuesday morning maintenance, when points are awarded), and each player must play in at least 30% of matches to get points.

While you're doing that, start hitting the BGs hard. It used to be that you could farm obscene amounts of honor by running AV, but that's now very iffy. Since 2.3 came out, it seems the flavor of the month is to do the daily quests that give gold and honor from the NPCs located by the Battlemasters in major cities. Then spend your honor on the pieces of gear that you need the most (season 1 arena gear can be bought with honor starting Nov 20) to get your stats, esp resilience, up to par (300 is an excellent number).

Good luck with PvP, and try to have fun with it (it's a freakin' game for cryin' out loud), but realize that PvP is, at best, challenging for feral druids and at worst, frustrating and miserable. You're not there to be the tip of the spear, you're there to improve your skills (which it will) and get some awesome gear that will help tons in PvE also until you surpass T4, maybe beyond. Hope this helps.

why so down on PvP.

it doens't matter what your doing PvP or PvE everyone has the same items avalible in game, just how you get them.

and personnaly ...

I love PvP... i just dont like PvP realms due to the total immaturaty level and the analness of the morons that are so vocal on those servers.

i dont care if i get ganked by a horde and friends for hours.

but i can tell you this. my feral bear has finished in the top 5 on every BG i have gone on.

problem with PvP is its a whole different game. you can not stay in feral combat as a druid and live without help.

its the ability to bound from form to form and cast and move and kill. its a challange and its fun.

on average the last 5 BG i went into i ended up tanking from start to end of AV on every mini and boss..

thats self buffed at 22k armor and 13k hp

powa to the bear!

I sit at 31,472 armor, 33.5% dodge and 13,914 health with just my own mark. I'm currently building up honor for the belt, bracer and boots in S3 and badges for the new cloak and idol.

@ DruidsRock

No matter how many people will tell you resto is the only viable spec for PvP/Arena, go with whatever spec YOU want to play. Trust me, the only reason it seems a certain spec is better off is because of others telling you if you can/can't arena/pvp with it.

Thanks for all your input.

It's not that I am against PvP, i am just not very good hehe. So I haven't done much, I know i can only get better with practise, but up to now, my main aim has been levelling and now I have the Kara key, I have a bit more time. I just don't want to make a tit of myself. However, it seems you have to to improve...wish me luck :)

With regards to the gear, I am glad to hear it is not only the best of the best that can achieve stats in that region...it's just never nice to be reminded that your own gear sucks which - by comparison to most of my feral guildies - it does. A lot of them have been 70 for a lot longer though, so I can take that, what hurts is when a new level 70 whose main aim has been PvP kicks my ass because I am in levelling greens and blues still.

This isn't a moan, and it wasn't supposed to be a wall of text, so sorry about that. Just had a lot to say.

Thanks again for you help.

Peace,

Thanks, I've been a lurker since the EQ days but never really felt knowlegeable enough to post something constructive.

I had the same feeling when I started my recent PVP push to get the 3 vindicator's items. I guess my only real advice is to try and put yourself in a position where you can do the things that ferals do well and avoid the situations where we struggle.

Try not to get stuck in one form. Make sure you use all the tools available to you. Also, you'll have alot more fun if you don't try to be the hero. Without good gear there are alot of classes that can kill us 1 on 1, but we make a great partner defending a node.

One of my favorite things about being a druid in PVP is stealthing at a node with someone else defending. You lure someone in thinking "oh, it's a just a little mage defending". Suprise, it's a druid too!

Just don't get too worked up about the times when someone kills you without you ever getting a hit in on them (I'm looking at you warlock). That'll happen occasionally and it happens to pretty much every class at one time or another. Look for ways that you can contribute to a win and for your own fun momments along the way (ravaging the sitting, eating caster, anyone?).

Completely unbuffed I have 32078 armour and 37.97% dodge.

Its a whole lot more raid buffed.

Armoury is down but just search for Kromas on wildhammer (EU) and check my gear.
Its mostly T4 plus crafted gear and badge rewards so its not that hard to obtain.

I got the pieces I was trying to get earlier in the thread. I love the new PVP items. The boots, bracer and belt were big upgrades and I really like the 5% more crit I gained for aggro. I'm hoping to get T4 chest soon if Mags will cough up the token.

the season 3 honor-pvp items are outstanding. A druid who's just reached level 70 can get the season one gear quickly, become uncrittable and have lots of health (but be darn short on armor, sadly).

Plus the vindicator bracers are just insane. I continue to marvel. The belt/boots have craftable alternative from the eye/ssc, so I haven't picked those up (I was going to get the belt, but got the one off vashj instead and was going to get the boots, but got the boots from badge turn ins first).

The new arena awards aren't as great for tanking, but good for dps. Like, the chest ranks among the best kitty dps items in the game for druids now. The head peice has almost the same armor, but vastly more stamina than the t4 (the only peice i'd use for tanking over a t4 equivelant).

Would you say they rival the Bands of the Swift Paw?

BoSP:
317 Armor
+21 Strength
+22 Agility
+31 Stamina
+10 Intellect
Yellow Socket
Socket Bonus: +2 Strength

Vindicator's Bracers:
236 Armor
+22 Strength
+22 Agility
+29 Stamina
Red Socket
Socket Bonus: +2 Resilience Rating
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 21 (0.95% @ L70).
Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 17 (0.43% @ L70).

I have enough honor for the Vindicator's, I'm 1 Badge short of the Swift Paw.

I'm trying to decide which to get.

If I don't get the Vindicator's, I'll get the S1 Helm (to replace the Stylish Purple Hat). If I don't get the Swift Paw, I'll get the Tanking cloak (To Replace Thoriumweave).

I'm a Bear though....I'm not too worried about DPS.

imho, BoSP are better for general druiding, however the veterans are better for pvp.

For tanking it's pretty close. Personally I would use BoSP and whap a stamina gem in the slot (screw the bonus). The extra armor is more important than 21 crit rating, imho. It all depends on the application though, and there's no denying both items are very nice. :>

The BoSP *is* better for tanking, but I need the resilience, so I use the Vindicator's.

With mostly T4 armor, the SSC/Eye craftable belt/boots, Darkmoon fair card and Badge of tenacity, I always have just barely enough Defense/Resilience. I finally compramised and use 2 peices of PvP gear for my tanking set: S3 helm and the bracers (along with standard tanking enchants and defense rings, that's enough to make me uncrittable).

It's just about finding the right balance for you.

Cinnas
11-30-2007, 10:26 AM
Yeah, I went with all 3 of the vindicator pieces over any of the craftables or badge loot mostly for the resilience. I wanted to be able to drop Clefthoof chest for tier 4 (once it drops, grr) and maybe the Earthwarden for the SSC trash staff without having to socket defense gems.

FYI: Rawr (http://druid.wikispaces.com/Rawr) is good to figure out how close you are to the crit immunity. When you're crit immune, try to avoid getting far into the negative crit chance because you're basically wasting stat points.

Kauroth

Ok, I'm gonna get the S1 Helm and BoSP.

I'm gonna toss the +15 ZA Gem on the bracers.

2 Strength is "meh" for me.
