Looks like this will be in the next content patch (whenever that is). Anyone have any info on it? Feralas seems very druidish, and its supposed to be an old NE city, so it seems like it could be a druid like/Kalimdor version of BRD.

Dire Maul
This great city, now in ruins, once comprised the greatest Night Elf city in Ancient Kalimdor. Know as Eldre'Thalas, it was the crown jewel of Highborne society and arcane research and study. Yet, as Kalimdor was shattered by the Great Sundering, the city was broken and the Sorcerous Highborne were cursed to wander the wreckage forever. The city lay abandonded for centuries until the mighty Ogre, King Gordok, took possession of the ruins. Now the Ogres hold the city in an iron grip--covetous of the arcane secrets still held by the Stirring Highborne ghosts. It is also rumored that a band of Satyrs have slipped into the shadowed ruins--also bent on splumbing the city's secrets for their own dark machinations.

Gameplay: Located in Feralas, Dire Maul will be a "winged" instance dungeon similar to the Scarlet Monastery. It's being tuned for groups of players ranging from levels 46 to 57. This dungeon should be a nice Kalimdor counterpart to Blackrock Depths.

Thanks. Sounds rocking. If its a Kalimdor version of SM/BRD it should kick butt. Throw in a little Maraudon loot table style and it should be very popular.

Well, I imagine most instances coming up are going to be like Marudon..you know, actually worth the effort for the loot involved =-p Most of the older instances were designed for the older WoW, so they arn't quite what people are aiming for, especially casters.

The idea of Zul'Gurrub scares me though. Zul'farrak is horribly designed. But if it's itemized at least halfway decent, it might be worth running once or twice at least =-p

I'm really looking forward to Dire Maul and Karazhan though.

Seems they have looked at which instances are popular and what are not and have geared more to the popular ones. That sounds great to me. SM has always been popular, can do the whole thing or take one wing today, next tomorrow. Seems like Dire and Karazhan are gonna be much more like that. Heck Karazhan even seems like its gonna be 3 dungeons in one.

Yep, it says it's designed to be three seperate dungeons essentially.

Nice, I like dungeons with wings too, either seperate instances or seperate paths immediately (or almost) when you enter. It is great to be able to do it a piece at a time when you don't have hours and hours. And Kalimdor needs some high end instances.

Seems they upped the level range on this since the article I took that information from, which is good overall. The level range stated on the Under Development page is 56-60.

New Dungeon: Dire Maul (56-60 level Dungeon in Feralas)
More information coming soon!

That's good. I wondere'd why the hell they were making a lvl 45-50 dungeon. I mean yeah we've got strath scholo and brs for the 60's, but a lot of us are done farming those and we'd be the ones who need new content.

Although for myself, I have full wildheart set so I don't know what they're gonna put in there that could make me want to break it up. They'll need to put trinkets, jewelry, capes and weapons primarily I guess.

I think that down the line Kalimdor could use a dungeon for the St/BRD levels. Thats what I thought Dire Maul was gonna be. Not upset that it has changed, just would like to see something for that in the future. Kalimdor's dungeons are underused for the most part, this will change that for the upper levels at least.

It may also change when they link the auction houses... although frankly darnassus is so isolated from any useful flight path that I can't really imagine people using it as a main base...

Its faster to gryph from IF to menethil and hop on the ship to thermadore/auberdine than it is to fly from darnassus to auberdine.

It makes sense in the world lore that darnassus is isolated, but as the alliance outpost in kalimdor not likely to become a hub for people getting prepared for instance runs.

If/when they fix flight paths in Kalimdor Theramore could become more of a hub.
