So I used to use thottbot all the time. It's a great resource for spells, talents, and quests. But lately it's seemed all buggy. Anyone else notice that the spell icons are some guy's picture? Check out the shaman spell list. It has tredeskillss in there. And what's up with all the german quest search results?
It used to work amost perfect for me, but now seems all buggy in the past couple of weeks. Anyone know why that is? Anyone know if there's another site with the same functionality as thottbot without all the bugs?

Try wow.allakhazam.com, I use it mostly and really like it. The only thing I miss is that you can't mouse-over the item icons and get the information for them, you actually have to click through. I honestly think thottbot is encountering a problem none of them ever expected. They upload data from the clients to their site and now that the game has been released in other languages, they are also getting that data pooled in. Now that I think of it, I imagine Allakhazam could run into this issue as well but they've always been very good about monitoring their data from what I've been able to tell.

Thats still a rumor btw: Thottbot is running on 40 servers and just the other day I had ask him to do an update on our site and it was done in about 20 seconds.

I truthfully use both thottbot and <st1:state w:st="on"><st1 ="">Ala's</st1></st1:state> hense why they are on and built into the News Page (http://wow.thedruidsgrove.org/)

Each one has been buggy depending on the current load of the servers; sometimes thottbot is fast and sometimes ala's is fast but both have its times where they are extremely slow. Maybe its time to remove all the Beta info from Thottbot since its starting to become a bit redundant and thats part of the overall problem.. from those that were not using it during beta and understanding how much data is actual on Thottbot.

As for who's got what where and how; supporting 40 Servers and not asking for a penny from the communities that use it? <st1:state w:st="on"><st1 ="">Ala</st1></st1:state>'s though... I have a lot of respect for them is a pay-per-view site for some of the advance features; that in itself is not a looked down upon at least by me or its followers; the amount of data, time and money is HUGE and quite frankly its a full time job.. please remember that when you look at sites like cosmos, thottbot and even us; we are free and if someone puts up an advertisement its because they are just trying to keep some of the Real Money (our real jobs) we make on the outside.. paying for our rent/mortgage, food and internet connection.

If Thott sold it .. well I wouldn't blame him.. that thing is a MONSTER! And some link to pre-order Matrix Online won't be paying the bills for 1 server let alone 40. I am just glad I never got into doing anything with Data; there are to many up-to-date engine/websites out there and IMO it becomes a bit redundant by having to much info. FAQ's and Guides are great - just gotta keep them current or they become useless; If Ala's went pay for advance features of its data plug-in I wouldn't blame them either; if you can't afford the fee's then do it the old fashion way; Ask or figure it out. Thats a bit hardcore but just how I feel, others may feel differently /shrugs

Just the other day I was asked if I could put up a War of the Worlds Banner for the upcoming movie that both Spielberg and Cruise is putting out this summer. No money would be made off it but we would have some sort of point system - maybe get some posters signed by "insert celeb here". That be all cool and I am still debating.. looks like a great movie.. but then someone might think I sold out! Never know.

BTW: None of what I say is directed to anyone here at all - just my spin on things as a site owner.

IMO; O'gaming is the current evil that is plaguing the fansites and buying up alternative sites in WoW. Just check out some of the wow(insert class here).com's (of course that’s giving them some free publicity! ) - Luckily I had the foresight to buy up some of the alternative domains for the Grove when I did.

I don't really care who owns Thottbot, Thott, IGE, Blizzard, the KKK, as long as it keeps spewing out the info it does. Banner ads aren't even that big of a deal.

As for the inacurate information, yea there are enchanting recipes tailoring, some items that are quest rewards aren't listed with their quest. However I find that reading the comments usually fills in the void, the community there is awesome.

I only use Alla's when thottbot is unbearably slow, however after last patch it seems to run much faster now. I don't wonder if he did another upgrade. To bad I can't volunteer my hours of doing nothing at work to try and fix it up a little.
