Just started a druid, having a great time with the class. I also have a 60 Pally and a 60 Hunter. So not a total newb.

Druid is by far the most fun to lvl so far. He is currently 25 heading to 26.

But I do have a few questions.

1) How viable are we in groups..what I mean is are we wanted? As my hunter getting groups was really hard, and while it was easier with my Pally, the higher lvl stuff all wanted a warrior for tanking.

2) How viable is solo? Do I have to go heavy Balance/Feral in order to be a decent solo?

3) Important stats? Right now I am leaning at STA/INT. is this correct or should I be looking at other things?

Thank you for any imput you might have.

We are 1 of the 2 main healing classes in the game.

We are awesome at solo. It just takes a bit more time to kill mobs. During most of my grind I was Restoration spec'd with some feral and less balance. A lot of Druids like to go feral for the grind and respec into restoration for end game content.

As for your stats, you cant go wrong with Stam/Int/Spi. You should do a search around the forum. There is a ton of information.

300 posts? I'm surprised you haven't answered your questions from browsing.

I think your build is correct, play in balance/feral till mid 40s, then you may choose to go more cookie cutter/healbot for the upper levels.

We are highly desired in groups and can cover an 8 man team if your build/game is right.

We can solo, some think not as quickly, but? not IMO. FI, there is a current warrior flick out there about this fellow in ungoro who grabbed 11 or 12 of the raptor critters, potioned, then retaliation ftw, dropped them all like rocks with maybe 25% health left.

retaliation is a 30 minute timer. It's not uncommon at all for me to grind faction on the timbermaw, or farm leather in ungoro in like fashion, only I grab 4-6 mobs, and I grind non stop, takes 4-6 minutes tops. So he grinds out 24 in 32 minutes, plus the fillers while he times out retal. I grind 24-30 also in 30 minutes with no problem, likely more on the upper 40- mobs as opposed to the 52+ up in timbermaw which I've actually counted out. So yes, we can solo/grind.

I can also drop 55 elite solo and not potion and farm ashara for money regularly, our average warriors can not seem to do that comfortably and without a potion.

Anyways, yes, I ground through the 40s near completely solo using OoC.

1) On average I find that I am constantly useful in groups since druids can perform multiple roles with more success than your average multi-role class. I have tanked a majority of the high level dungeons and I have also been the main healer many times. However, most of the time you will not be wanted as a main healer if a shaman/paladin isnt there to rez since we lack the ability to rez the group after a wipe.

2) Soloing is easy, I was constantly soloing even level mobs all the way up to 60, sometimes even more than one at a time. The problem is, it becomes incredibly slow since druid dps does not scale up well as you get closer to level 60.

3) STA/INT is a good choice, but your stat choice depends on your preference. If your going feral then you would clearly want to focus more on stats appropriate for rogues/warriors. I personally stick to Stamina, Intellect and Spirit. It isn't very feasible to go full feral at the moment. Maybe after the talents are reworked and the dps is recalibrated they will become a much more reasonable way to specialize your character.

Huh? Can choose your own stats. When i lvl up it goes automaticly. Or are you just talking about items? :S

Yeah, when I level up, it asks me where I want to put all my stat points. Just like in Diablo.

A good one Badgemagus!

It is more a question what stats bonus are on the items that you have choiced to equip that stats you get by leveling (that you can't choice).

It automatically assigns your stat points when you level.

As for getting groups...I found, as a pally, the best way to get a group across all levels was to make one.

Once you get of the appropriate levels to start doing instances where group composition makes a real difference, you just need to get a small pool of people willing to work outside the box and go to work. You'll work out the strats necessary for your group composition.

I used to regularly 5 man strath and scholo as the main tank and I almost always had at least one druid and a warlock. Rarely did we have mages or warriors. Two druids if we couldn't find a priest. That's the beauty of WoW.

1) Post level 40 - get used to getting tells from random people to go to a particular instance. We are excellent healers, and have the best buff in the game. Never had much trouble getting instance groups.

2) I put my first 5 points in Nature's Grasp, and from there went Restoration until I had Innervate. I didn't have any trouble soloing. We solo pretty much slower than any other class, albeit with little downtime. Unlike most classes, it is possible for us to solo equal level elite mobs - alternating bear form and healing touch - and it gets easier to do once you get Barkskin (around lev 40-44).

Soloing mobs that heal themselves is difficult and time consuming for a druid. We have 1 method to interrupt a cast - the bear form stun - with a cooldown of 1 minute. If you're a Tauren, add Warstomp to that.

3) INT and STA most important (STA more so through level 25-30). At higher levels, you will want to start having a STA gear set and an INT gear set. Don't be surprised if you notice there are few quest rewards out there for druids. Most of your gear ("of the Eagle") is going to be random greens from the AH/drops. Keep in mind there are some excellent cloth items, and don't completely avoid them as the armor penalty is minimal.
