Re: UC TV: The skinny on fat (Part 1)

This was good. I think a lot of people assume that skinny means healthy and it isn't the case at all. The thin man’s diabetes His father lost his leg to type 2 diabetes, but Jeff O’Connell – a young, slim health journalist – never thought the disease could affect him… The first thing I saw was a pro...

Re: If this is accurate....

We need to cut military spending. We have all this military power and when we're not at war, it's just begs us to get into a war. And war is so painless for 99% of us, all we do is have everyone else fight it and we pass the cost off onto our children/grandchildren. Baron Munchausen: What's this? Vu...

Re: Belief in Science: A partisan issue?

Conservatives use low-effort thinking: Think less and become more conservative . Which is kind of obvious when you think that fear seems to be the chief motivator for (many? most?) conservatives. The less time or mental effort a person puts into thinking about an issue, the more likely they are to e...

Belief in Science: A partisan issue?

http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/30/10941959-science-need-not-be-a-partisan-issue This chart, as part of a study from Gordon Gauchat, made the rounds yesterday, and with good reason. It shows the trend over the last four decades of Americans' trust in science, as broken down by politica...

Re: Climate-Change-Denier-Gate?

Actually, I think weather forecasters have gotten pretty accurate over the last couple of decades. I remember the weather *never* matching up with what they said it would do, then lately I've noticed it almost always does. For what little weather we actually have where I live.

Re: Utah (governor) did something correct

That is surprising, especially with how intrusive Republican's have gotten this year into things like women's health: Reproduction, contraceptive use and so on. They're trying to pass a law in VA to require women get an intrusive, vaginal ultrasound before they can have an abortion. What happened to...

Re: Some people forgot their History lessons

I think the "Tea Party" as a group needs monitoring. They seem almost as hateful as neo-Nazi groups at times.
