Re: Card Gate: 2011's war on Christmas
That was nothing compared to the Fox News "outrage" on December 7 (the date of the Pearl Harbor attack). What was Obama's children's school serving for lunch that day? Teriyaki chicken -- which conclusively proves that Obama and his children are anti-American Communist Muslim foreigners, b...

Re: Cost shifting from the wealthy to the poor
You have got to be kidding me. Solar subsidies are the perfect example of money flowing from rich people to poor people. If you install a solar panel in San Francisco, you first get a federal tax credit (not deduction - dollar for dollar credit that is better for poor people) of 30% of the cost. Thi...

Re: Top Income Tax Rate: How's 83% Sound?
Do you think your 1% is getting wealthy on money that just appears magically from the air? It comes from the 99%. The less the 99% have, the more the 1% have and visa versa. Where does the wealth come from, in the first place? Do you really think a nation of 300 million proletariat would have a GDP...

Re: Top Income Tax Rate: How's 83% Sound?
An "inequality tax" assumes that people are equal, and that their income should reflect that equality. How can you possibly have a coherent tax system based on a fundamentally flawed assumption? You'll end up sounding like Fyyr on global warming.Zute wrote:An Inequality Tax Trigger

Re: Top Income Tax Rate: How's 83% Sound?
Problem with that whole "trickle down" thing is the trickle down never happens, but trickle up happens a whole hell of a lot. Really? Who pays your proletariat? Which way is that money trickling? How many poor people pay rich people? Can you give me some examples? Who pays society's bill?...

Re: Robert Reich on Occupy...
It was never a topic in the mainstream media. Sure it was. Before this Occupy crap. That's why people were sympathetic to their cause at the beginning: the cause was handed to them on a silver platter. But instead of making something out of it, they turned the idea into disgusting tent ghettos and ...

Re: Robert Reich on Occupy...
It's made the shrinking middle-class and growing income disparity a topic in American politics. It has succeeded. Income disparity has been a "topic" for a very long time. The two months of tent ghettos/homeless encampments succeeded in doing nothing but wasting taxpayer money. Unless you...

Proof that every teenage generation needs its Woodstock.
Which is all this was (note use of past tense), a big party that did nothing to the 1% except to make them chuckle at the stupidity.

Re: Top Income Tax Rate: How's 83% Sound?
Most of his spending money is going to be from the dividends from the stocks he owns. That is taxed as income. But it is a much smaller amount than the total appreciation in value of his assets. Most people don't grasp this either. When they see a list of rich people with $XX billion next to someon...

Re: Top Income Tax Rate: How's 83% Sound?
Buffett's quip about his secretary is misleading, and he knows it. Ok... BUT.... How exactly is he misleading? That's what I just explained. His secretary's top marginal rate is higher because (1) he/she is earning below the social security threshold (~$110K) and therefore is still paying 6.2% soci...
