The friend you quoted ceased contact with Loughner two years ago. That's when Obama got elected and the right-wing media started ramping up their propaganda campaign to make him appear like an illegitimate usurper and democrats like socialists who were trying to kill grandma with their death panels and their health care.

> I bet Palin is fervently wishing that she never ok'd that campaign district ad.

Yeah, that's a safe bet. Still, she probably could have avoided some of the heat she's taking if she'd been less combative/defensive in response to accusations that her rhetoric was a contributing factor in the shootings. It certainly didn't help that her supporters were posting some pretty vile stuff on her facebook page. When quotes like “It’s ok. Christina Taylor Green was probably going to end up a left wing bleeding heart liberal anyway. Hey, as ‘they’ say, what would you do if you had the chance to kill Hitler as a kid? Exactly.” are on the same page that you are expressing your sympathies it compromises the appearance of sincerity.

Irrespective of whether or not Loughner was influenced by the overheated rhetoric, others definitely have been. Take a look at the list I posted earlier in the thread. In the last election we had a candidate for the US Senate with a legitimate chance at winning saying things like "if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out." -- that's not a metaphor, that's a threat.

Hmmm... Sarah has a habit of sticking her foot well into her oral cavity.
Blood libel - a phrase that other conservatives have also used in recent days - was her way of decrying liberal critics who had tried to draw a connection between Palin's campaign rhetoric and the Tucson shootings.

But it also has a specific, ugly historical context. Blood libel is the centuries-old anti-Semitic myth that Jews use the blood of Christian children for rituals such as baking unleavened bread during Passover. It was used to justify persecution of Jews.

You mean the shooter?

The hate and fear mongering isn't on the news. In addition to radio and TV, it's all over the Internet, including YouTube.

Where do you think he got the idea? Do you really think he just randomly picked the same victim that the tea party types have targeted?

Inciting people to commit murder still makes you an accomplice to murder.

Even if you only manage to convince a crazy man to do it.

I'll bet she is happy she approved that ad.

Because it serves her purpose: to get her media attention and to further radicalize her fanatical Christian base.

It's the same with all the hate-mongering comments on her Facebook page: she encourages those, because it helps rally the troops.

I just took a look at Palins Facebook page upon your suggestion.

I don't see what you're talking about.
She does have a discussion board, like this one, attached.
And there seems to be an equal number of pro and anti Palin posts.

Are you saying that Palin is responsible for the words posted to her message board by others?

Yes.

It's called board moderation.

That's crazy.

That's like saying that Sobe might has well have said what I say.
Or what you say.

If someone posts something to their FB wall, and show up on my page, I am responsible for what they wrote?
That's retarded.

Have you read the board even? I just skimmed it, and I don't think you know what you are talking about.
It's like a free form comment section like under a YouTube video. Is that the place where this person received his marching orders to shoot up those people. you are talking about? Post a link from her page that you are talking about.

Not crazy at all.

Let's say you come on here, and repeatedly post neo-Nazi hate speech and incite people to kill anyone who isn't a member of the master race.

If the moderator sees this and does nothing about it, he is implicitly endorsing your message.

In fact even on this board, which is barely moderated at all, you'd probably get banned eventually for doing that.

Show an example. I asked you previously to do that. As it stands you are making conclusions about some hypothetical, but have stated them as existing.
