Korean parents... You figure it out(notice how he never smiles).

I wonder if he can write his own stuff now.
I would pay to see him in concert, though. Big time.

This kid, on the other hand, sure seems to enjoy it! I can only hope to be half the drummer he already is at 5 years old.

Wow! If Mozart were a drummer, I think he'd be that little guy right there Palarran.

Both a very talented!

Ok, I understand that Sung there is only playing what Tomi arranged, but that Hotel California cover sounds like crap imo (I clicked on a few of his other videos and they sounded a little better).
And yes, little kid drummers are cute and whatnot but I'll listen to Meytal Cohen over them any day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91C_wS09Wsw). Once the cuteness and novelty wear off, you realize that they don't really sound all that great.

Having said all that, those are the ages you really want to expose your kids to music. They'll probably hate learning it (because didn't we all have ADD at that age?) but it's so much easier than when you're an adult. I've been trying to "learn" guitar by way of Rock Band 3 and my adult brain is happily rejecting all notions of learning any new skill.

And I prefer listening to the original drummers over anyone playing a cover most of the time--especially when the original drummer is someone like Neil Peart or Keith Moon or Mike Portnoy. (I was going to say that I prefer _watching_ Meytal Cohen, but I find the way that she smiles at the camera to be...a little creepy sometimes?) That's not to say Meytal Cohen isn't good--she certainly is--but she's not quite as good as the drumming legends, and she doesn't have the novelty factor to make up for it.

As far as exposing kids to music early, absolutely! But they don't have to learn everything as kids. An intuitive feel for pitch and timing, and maybe some manual dexterity, will go a long, long way when it comes time to tighten their technique through practice at a later age.

The same goes for a lot of skills. I was exposed to computer programming when I was very young, and I'm convinced that made more advanced topics in programming much easier to grok in college (to the point that I couldn't fathom _not_ understanding certain concepts that some students seemed to struggle with).

He rocks.

Can you tell that he is doing his completely own interpretation?
He's not following, or copying what the drums sounds like from the band he is covering.
It is his own.

He keeps looking over at his dad though.
Even though that is annoying, he certainly looks like he is enjoying himself.

No novelty factor?

REally, those eyes and that smile, are not a hook?
Are you gay Palarran?

Heh, no, I'm not gay. I just happen to know a couple attractive women who are drummers. (Amateur drummers, granted--not as talented as Meytal Cohen--but close enough that "cute girl who rocks" is not a novelty for me.) I have an unusual circle of friends, I guess?

She has a great smile, but it seems a little forced and out of place when she uses it mid song, when I'm expecting more of a look of intensity. This bugs me more than it probably should.

(Edit: Ok, it depends on the song too. For something as silly as the "Bed Intruder Song" smiling is entirely appropriate!)
