Robert Reich on Occupy...
Re: Robert Reich on Occupy...
Proof that every teenage generation needs its Woodstock.
Which is all this was (note use of past tense), a big party that did nothing to the 1% except to make them chuckle at the stupidity.

Re: Robert Reich on Occupy...
It's made the shrinking middle-class and growing income disparity a topic in American politics. It has succeeded. I hope they can keep the topic going. Robert Reich is awesome.
"Money is speech and corporations are people." A very important concept most people aren't even aware of.

Income disparity has been a "topic" for a very long time. The two months of tent ghettos/homeless encampments succeeded in doing nothing but wasting taxpayer money. Unless you care to point to a single positive outcome that was worth the millions that each city wasted policing the occupy rabble.Zute wrote:It's made the shrinking middle-class and growing income disparity a topic in American politics. Re: Robert Reich on Occupy...
It was never a topic in the mainstream media.

Sure it was. Before this Occupy crap. That's why people were sympathetic to their cause at the beginning: the cause was handed to them on a silver platter.Zute wrote:It was never a topic in the mainstream media.
But instead of making something out of it, they turned the idea into disgusting tent ghettos and ego-trip standoffs with police that turned off every normal person and killed any possibility of real action.
The point here is not just that they're hypocrites and wrong (they are, on both counts), but that even Marxists who like them have to admit that they shot their Marxist cause in the foot with their idiotic ideas.

Gosh, even the billionaires are concerned. Well, maybe not the Koch brothers...

Some sessions in a series labeled “Ensuring Inclusive Growth and Development” will touch on income inequality, said Kevin Steinberg, chief operating officer of the forum in the U.S. A panel titled “Remodeling Capitalism” is scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Swiss Alpine High School auditorium, six shuttle- bus stops away from the conference’s main location.
Last year, wealth disparities helped fuel protests from Cairo to New York, and the Occupy Wall Street movement made the richest 1 percent targets. That hasn’t gone unnoticed by some Davos participants, including Azim Premji, 66, chairman of Bangalore-based Wipro Ltd., India’s third-largest software exporter, who in December 2010 transferred stock then worth $2 billion to a foundation that supports education for the poor.
