On Thottbot.com (which I assume is accurate), the description for this says:

"Increases the effect of your Mark of the Wild and Gift of the Wild Spells by XX%"

My question is: WTH is "Gift of the Wild"? I don't see that in the talent trees nor in the spell lists!

Someone please enlighten me.

Gift of the wild is a spell you can get around lvl 50, and gift of the wild 2 you get at 60.

You have to get a gift of the wild book to teach you the spell. This drops in the high level instances but is a pretty rare drop. The rank 1 sells on Ah for around 50g. The rank 2 sells around 150g.

The spell gift of the wild puts mark of the wild on all of your party members, and makes it last 1 hour instead of 30 minutes. GOTW2 casts highest rank motw, GOTW casts 2nd highest rank motw.

It's a "spell" that is dropped by the elusive AH, minimum level 50, group version of our Rank 6 Mark of the Wild spell. It uses a 7s reagent, but it lasts an hour instead of 30 mins. Our Improved MoTW talents do work on the group version as well. There is of course another one for our final rank of MotW we get at level 60.

I picked up Gift of the Wild (Rank 1) in the AH for 5 gold. Yes, 5 gold. It seems, there are not enough druids out there to bid on it. When you see it for 50 gold it's normally the starting bid of the seller, making the going price artificial. At the time I bought it, there was 2 up forsale. Both was around 5 gold.

Sounds like the economy is in a much nicer state on your server. On Blackhand, I regularly see GoTW book 1 going for 20-30g and have been offered book 2 for 300g. I got book one on a raid with no other druids and unless book 2 drops the same way, I doubt I'll ever get it.

I see the same thing. You know what? It doesn't sell. I can see the same person selling them for days. Just takes one sucker to click buyout.

Just this weekend, book 2 was forsale with a 200 gold starting bid and 350 gold buyout. He had it up for days. Then one person who was willing to pay it, got it. That doesn't mean it's the going price. It's a artificial price.

I wish the AH didn't let people name their own starting price. Let the economy decide how much X item is worth, by the bid system. Not what someone wants it to be worth. Thats what buyout should be for.

Don't get the rank 1 version for more than a thimble of cash. Going from 50 to 60 doesn't take that long, and once 60 it will be obsolete, as the lvl 60 MoTW is better. Just go on some instance raids to places like Stratholm once you are high 50s and it will eventually drop. Druids don't seem to be in that high a numbers at high levels so you won't have a ton of competition for it when it drops.

Thanks for the info guys. I don't know this guildie at all, we've never even partied together. He's a nice enough guy, and even though gold only just BARELY has a purpose in this game as of now I think I'm gonna save my gold and try to find it myself some day.

As a guide, I picked up the rank 2 spell off of the AH a few days ago on Cenarius for 100g. It had a 150g buyout, and I wagered nobody would pay for it. Level 60 druids are extremely rare on the Horde side, with only perhaps a dozen of us above 50. Glee!

For some of you who may be worried about spending the gold, I say go for it. It lasts twice as long, the reagent cost is practically nothing, and it simplifies your buffing job on raids completely. No more randomly clicking on your 10-20 raid members trying to figure who not in your group has the Mark and who doesn't. No more people chiming in asking for it while the rest of the raid looks at you funny because you can't keep one buff up.

To top it off, the mana costs decreases from 2100 for 5 marks to 1200 for one group! This is the difference between you holding the group up for 2 minutes while you refresh the buff on everyone and regen, and between you doing it on the fly. Fantastic spell--a must for any druid.

I was lucky enough the other day to have to have GotW II drop off of a Thornling something-or-other in Dire Maul. Probably The Coolest drop I have had so far!

(Sure is a loud cast though! )

Bought my rank 1 at AH for 2g :P at lvl 48 and havent regret it, well it was very cheap...

Its really really great. Saves alot of time buffing and last 1 hour.

I heard rank II lasted 2 hours but i am not sure.

The only thing i dont like is, when someone dies, i have to rebuff all or give him a normal Motw...

Well, hi, first post :p, been looking here for a while and now made my account.

Hi :D

Rank 2 only lasts 1 hour, same as rank 1. But you get a higher level motw cast (more AC and more resistances)

Arh... So Rank II is really good, when you also got improwed MotW... Can anyone tell me how much a improwed motw in lvl 60 gives? And what a improved Gift of the Wild gives?

Gift of the Wild Book I = Mark of the Wild recieved at Level 50, but for 1 hour
Gift of the Wild Book II = Mark of the Wild recieved at Level 60, but for 1 hour

If you have talent points in Improved Mark of the Wild, it will carry over to your Gift of the Wild.

Got GotW1 this weekend in Sunken Temple off a trash mob (think one of the dragonkin). While this spell isn't as beneficial to druids, as say something similar would be to Mages for AI, it's just wonderful to have running instances. Reagent is Wild Berries and they cost ~ 6s 80c each.

On my server, Book 1 (when you can find it) is going for a lot more in the AH than Book 2, which is only 4 or 5g.

I've been checking the AH for GotW1 every day! Ugh. I'll be hitting ST tonight. Hopefully I'll get the drop. GotW2 is running for 20g-ish on Hyjal Horde side.

I seem to have it lucky then. I got both book one and book two for three gold. Total. XD

I got both for less than 10g combined.

I have no clue but appearantly people did not realize how much it was worth as they were the only ones on the market at the time.

Keep in mind that this is a pretty old thread... got bumped up from the graveyard here. ;) Before they increased the drop rate on these books, the rank 2 books were anywhere from 10-200g at AH, and the rank 1 books maybe 5-50g.

Something I notice the other day, I put talents into improving MotW. If i hover of the Icon to cast the spell, it shows "Increase Armour by 105 (or something like that)" when I cast it and hover over the effect on the screen, it just shows the standard armour increase (what it was before I put talent points into improving it).

Is this just me or has anyone else notice this?

It's an issue with all Improved buff spells (MotW, Fortitude, etc.). The tooltip in your spellbook will show the correct, improved amount of armor, stats, and resists. The buff icon will not show an improved amount.

There's also a long-standing bug that only the caster retains the "improved" effect upon zoning (between continents, instances). Not sure when/if they plan on fixing this.

I had a lil spare gold at one point and bought book 1 on AH for a lil more than that....but I wanted to make sure I could learn it at 50....and then a few days later a WSG friend of mine sent me the Rank 2 book from her main....she got it as loot and thought of me first....yay! I know I've got some leveling to do....but now I have so much motivation!
