I finished the 1.5 epic last week and have seen screen shots of the staff equipped (very pretty), but on my screen in any camera view it just looks sorta well... grayish, and the whole thing flickers faintly. No 'green' gem glowing or spinning, and other than the recognizable shape, it doesn't look very much like what it's supposed to.

I'm using the newer (luclin) woodelf model, and have tried just about every possible combination of particle settings.

Is there a particular equipment file or setting to change that would allow me to see the staff as it's intended to look?

You might try the advanced settings on the patcher, I'm not really sure what the problem would be, but you can have it check for all missing files all the way back to Kunark. I don't play with particle effects on usually and I still see a green spinning crystal on mine.

You are prolly looking at pics of epic 2.0. The difference in 1.5 vs 2.0 is that 2.0 has upgraded particle effects.

IE, I know the rogue one is a shimmering dagger, and the 2.0 is the same dagger with an upgraded green particle effect.

You are most likely seeing the epic 1.5 exactly as its supposed to appear, and if you want the green glow, as seen in the emulator pics, you will need the 2.0 one.

to see full effects in OoW as well as epic 1.5 you need pixel shader 2.0 support which most new vid cards support you can check the box (under advanced options) even if your card doesnt support it, and you dont have to zone to see the difference. The changes are to say the least dramatic, especially on NPC models. Just invis and go near a dragorn, check/uncheck the advanced shader 2.0 box, and you will know if you have it.
My laptop uses a ati 7500 mobile, and it doesnt matter what I check everything looks the same in any oow zone as well as the 1.5's.
On my nvidia 6800GToc card, even in the same zone (OoW only) its like a different game.

No, I'm looking at the 1.5 equipped in my own character's hands, as captured in a screenshot taken by a guildie. :) In that screenshot, the staff looks exactly like the one pictured (http://www.thedruidsgrove.org/sobe/poitez_2.jpg) with Poitez.

Using ATI Radeon 9600 ... it should support all the game's graphic options. Not sure what the problem might be. Will post back if I figure it out. )

Stumps is correct. When I turned off the Pixel shader 2.0 options last night (was playing around with stuff) my crystal became dull green and stopped glowing. The pixel shader 2.0 is located under Options > Display > Advanced along with the shadows and water swap option.

The ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 does not support pixel shaders or vertex shaders. The ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 was the first of the Mobility Radeon series of embedded ATI graphics chips to support the advanced graphics processes.

I, too, own a laptop with the Mobility Radeon 7500 graphics chip

So on my ATI Radeon 9600 I should be able to see them, yes?
