Anyone ever find any chests, etc that are cursed.

I've yet to find anything.
If so what theme

I came across my first today. Not sure if I passed any earlier as I didn't have the spells, or people smashed them before I could check.

Was in Miragul's.

We did a MM dungeon last night with a group of six. We found two chests and one barrel. The chests were not mechanical or cursed, and we had no one in the group who had the magical disarm spells. The barrel was cursed, and I succeeded in detecting, disarming and unlocking it on either the first or second cast of the "Rebo" spells.

However.... after unlocking it, none of us could open it, getting the same screen message that you get when trying to loot a mob corpse that someone else has killed. After it timed out, someone was able to open it. Yield: Blue Diamond.

Opening the container must be bugged.

I saw two locked items in a row that I could affect last night in mistmoore. One was a chest and the other a barrel. In each case we couldn't loot them till I had successfully cast all three Rebo's spells and then typed /open

I have yet to see anything in Rujark that I can affect, but encountered a few in Miragul's.

I have mostly done MMC, and there my luck has been so so.

So far, since I bought my spells, 1 box out of hmm 4 has been priest (one other may have been but it was before I had spells). I was able to open that box for my grand reward of 5pp.

I was in a dungeon from the EC camp and we found 5 boxes, none of which were priest boxes.

Do the cursed ones say "cursed" when you /inspect?

Not sure what they say on an inspect. But you won't even be able to cast the druid augury spell on it if its not a curse type... "You can only cast this spell on cursed items" or the like.

When I inspect things I either see a big old lock on it or runes of some sort.

When I inspected my cursed one had something like " You see an Old dusty chest. It has a blue fog coming off it" It was cursed trapped and locked.

A mechanical barrel had the description of "This dusty barrel has a large metal lock on it." something of that nature :)

Inspect will tell you what kind of chest it is, it also has a chance of setting it off :)

Sicking a charmed pet on it from a distance has worked well for me, though I've only done it 3 times...

Yep today thinking inspecting was a safe measure walked up and bam 1/2 the group gets a Dot on them. This one was in MMC, not sure what type of chest it was as when it went off it didn't tell me.

I did see a magical coffin today also.

So when inspecting it will use some keywords to tell you what type it is.

- Mechanical Lock - obviously mechanical
- Runes lining the object - Magical
- Fog and glow coming off the object - Cursed.

You gotta let the pro's inspect those chests! (No jokes, now!)

/em cracks her knuckles

I don't think I've set off a trap yet using inspect.

That's what the female wood elves say when they come see me, even a special dark elf every once and a while!

You cast Rebo's greater Augry. If the chest is cursed, the spell will cast. If it's not cursed, the spell will fail and you will get the message "This spell only works on the cursed."

The reason I ask is because it always says either something about it having a lock (i.e. it's mechanical) or it is covered in runes. So I thought the runed ones were for robe caster types rather than priests. I never saw one that didn't say one thing or the other.

Inspecting can set off the trap, so if you have someone that can cast augury and someone that can cast appraisal, both should attempt it (then possibly interrupt the spell). If one succeeds, that's the type of trap; if neither succeeds, it's mechanical. Neither spell can set off a trap until the spell lands.

I got a message that said it wasn't a trap once however it took two casts. First time said I wasn't able to detect if a trap, second time on same chest it said it wasn't trapped.
