At work, it seems like more and more I'm entering client info on the web on password-protected data collection sites. Add in online banking/credit card management, etc. and I end up with dozens if not hundreds of usernames and passwords to remember.

Creating a secure password is no problem, but tracking all the ones I've created is becoming a pain. I have usernames/passwords on various boards, etc. plus, I have passwords at home, and on my work machine, plus my work laptop that I'm needing to keep synchronized between all 3 machines... it's getting harder and harder to manage.

I've been using Password Corral, but it seems to store stuff off in the registry and the only way to synchronize it is to export it as a text file and then compare it manually between the two machines. So if you're not careful you have an unsecure text file lying around on your hard drive - not good.

I'm looking for something better. Does anyone know of a good freeware/shareware password manager that stores your passwords in an encrypted file that can then be synchronized easily between two machines?

Thanks :)

Sounds like KeePass Password Safe (http://keepass.sourceforge.net/) is just the thing. Its entirely open source, and it keeps your password in a file that is encrypted using AES or Twofish encryption. So all you need to do is copy this file onto your three computers and keep them up-to-date.

That looks good - I'll give it a try.

Thanks :)

Maybe ye olde pad-and-paper in a safe could do you.
