I have been playing this RTS game recently. The game has single player and multiplayer parts to it.
The single player part has a good and evil campaign with an option to play selected maps against computer players.
The good and evil campaign's are very good because the AI has units with rank(level) and this makes defeating the AI much more difficult than a typical player V computer game. In addition, you get to play the various heros from the movie and this game comes with various movie clips from epic moments in the game.
The down side to this game is the AI. The AI tends to attack and defend resource spots where I tend to build up and destroy the AI.
The multiplayer game really requires dial-up~plus if not you get massive lag and you will get booted out of games.
Units consist of infantry, archer, mounted, siege weapons, monsters and heros. The four races of Rohan, Gondor, Isengard and Mordor each have units unique to their race but all units fall within the six mentioned types.
Overall the game offers many hours of single player RTS play with lots of wow factor in the form of movie clips in the campaign. The long term expectations are more bleak. You can play the good and evil campaign twice and you become bored with the content. At which point the AI becomes perdictable and boring.
The games cost me $49.99 and I probably got 50 hours of enjoyment out of it but I think the AI could have been much better. Sadly, I think this game falls into the hollywood/game catagory of providing a game that sells because of the movie more than the merits of the game.
