Honestly dont know as I havent done it for a long time however you did miss out one important thing from your post. That is what kind of connection you have to the internet. Its going to take much longer over a modem than it would over 1mb DSL so what do you use?

yeah thought about that after the fact.
im hooked up over a cable modem, i manage to get fairly consistant speeds as there are only about two other customers upon teh companies node out this way.
only downside is my comptuer is older then dirt.

Over cable, it shouldn't take long. I once installed EQ on a new computer from the scratch CD's, then downloaded all the updates (this was just after PoP, so no LoY files). Took about 5 mins or so if I remember right.

reloaded a system a few months ago, took about 5 hours over dial up to do all the patching. only about 15-20 mins to do all the disk installations, though.

Remember when you re-install the programs if you have any of the older CDs (when Verant owned EQ) that the default directory was something like Program Files \ Everquest, the newer ones from Sony (and all subsequent expansions since they bought VI) the default is Program Files \ Sony \ Everquest.

Just make sure you are installing them into the same directory otherwise its an even bigger waste of time to uninstall it all then reinstall it.

Last time I did it, it was faster than I expected. I use ADSL, and I think it was about 20-30 mins for the updates.
Now you have a new option of installing the LDoN files too, so if you have lots of time, you can download them as well :)

I did a reinstall when PoP came out. I installed everything all the way up to and includeing PoP. That's a lot of CD's : \

Took somewhere around 30-60 minutes for all the CD's.

All the patches took between 30-45 minutes over a cable modem. I did the install after formatting the HDD; so, I had NOTHING from EQ on the computer at that point. Count it at 2-3 hours to be on the safe side. Who knows, might get out in an hour though :P

I just hate starting big installs when I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to finish them.

I just burn my EQ directory to disk occasionaly and if something goes wrong I just pop it back down and run. You don't even need to reinstall EQ, just make a shortcut.

I installed in about 15 minutes. Kunark CD which includes original EQ, Velious CD, Luclin CD for which I also selected the retexture of the old workd, PoP. Then ran the patcher until it was all up to date with LoY and LDoN selected which took me 30 minutes on 1 megbit DSL. So total 45 minutes. LDoN was the biggest part patch wise.
