So, I've been gone since last October-ish and I wanted to start playing again a bit. I would like to work on bettering my gear a bit since I'm sub 4k hps again (since I dropped a few pieces of gear when I left) and yes I know that I suck so no need to point that out. I still have some decent focuses and FT15 so I think I'm standing pretty good.

Back on to my questions:

I have my key to Veeshan's Peak, but I'd get my shirt handed to me if I even tried walking 10 steps in there non-invis (bad KoS). I understand that no mobs in Mistmoore count for faction anymore (makes no sense, wouldn't want people to actually get exp while working on faction... God Forbid) All the mobs appear to have moved out to LFay, which sucks since they are horribly spread out and there are no decent animal (if any) to DC so kill rate would be kinda bad, and it was slow to fix faction in Mistmoore before they moved them out. Vahlen Nostrolo (sp?) is an option, but alas I'd actually have to sit there the whole time since I'm not a decent pet class and again I don't believe there are any decent DC pets to kill him for me if I wanted to do afk factioning.

Does anyone know of a better way to raise this forsaken faction... It seems that it is just a horrible timesink since there is no way to exp while you're doing it.. so it is just mind numbing pointless slaughter.

When I did my faction work it was before the MM revamp. Even then Aeing the place felt like it took forever. I finally resorted to killing the King in Kaladim. Was much quicker, though at some point I still need to repair my faction in Kaladim

What is Kaladim faction good for? I think I'm dubious there anyway (from killing dorfs in my 40's)

How many kills did it take to get your faction up and what is his respawn time? Is this less/more camped that the bard in s karana or about the same?

Thanks for the suggestion, I had forgotten about the king.

Faction wise the importance varies from person to person. I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to faction so I just hate to be KOS anywhere :smile5:

Only trouble I have with being KOS to them now is if I'm running to the docks and forget to invis past the guards, even then it's just an annoyance. No big deal.

When I was working faction the King wasn't camped. Could walk in at any time and he'd be open. His spawn time is just under 6 minutes. I think his hit to RoS is about +25, used to be much higher I hear. I don't think it took me more than 6 hours total camping time to get to Ally. You can choose to kill his Guards or zone them off. Just stay invis until he pops again, then zone them off again. Then you don't take their faction hits also, they don't give RoS faction.

There is also a bard in the area (Kilam Oresinger) you can hit in between who gives a small hit. His respawn is longer though, seems like 15 minutes or so.

I think there is a NPC to kill in South Qeynos and the faction hit is pretty big. On a 6 min spawn. (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=2800. )
After getting your faction with VP up, you can repair his faction by a red wine quest in Qeynos.

You can also kill the two nobles in Highpass Keep. Will totally mess up your merchant faction there though (nowadays it's hard to get goblin left ear since nobody is hunting HHK goblins).

The 3rd option is to kill bards. That is not recommended to a druid since some of our porting places have bards.

WC and uhh, surefall maybe? The WC ones don't even spawn close enough to agro you on porting in.

Killed King Kazon in Kaladim for a couple hours today, until I became KoS to Kaladim (then the greenies started to aggro on me and I couldn't kill him anymore)

Was still ready to attack in VP

Then I killed Cordelia Minster and Vhalen Nostrolo (NK and SK) for an hour (went to threatening)

Killed those 2 for about 2 more hours... and I am now dubious to Ring of Scale (only went down one faction level so far with Qeynos guards and max kos with bards now)

will update as I progress

Decided to try something last night...

DC'ed a griffon in North Karana and parked myself next to Cordelia Minster's spawn location last night. Everytime she spawned, she would attack me (since i'm now KoS) and then my pet would chew her a new one. I forgot to give my pet weapons, so it was only doing default damage.

If you're going to do this I would suggest getting at least a griffon, if not grimfeather... Weapons would be a plus as one of the guards (Guard Frederick, I believe) wanders nearby and will assist Cordelia when he sees her being attacked. He did bring my griffon down to half health, but keep in mind my pet was unhasted and unarmed... So an armed griffon with some mage items would easily chew him up.

I left myself there over night, half expecting to be at my bind point in the morning, but after 7 hours straight I was still alive and my pet was still keeping me that way.

Hopefully I'll be max ally tonight :)

Just to update for anyone interested...

Cordelia was a bad idea, I didn't die at all from the whole ordeal (was guarding the same spot in N Karana for about 16 hours straight. However, her positive Ring of Scale faction hit is so small that after all that time I didn't move one bit (was still dubious)...

Guess I'm going to have to camp Vhalen manually (since there are no worthy DC pets in South Karana)

Just remember Dubious is one of the larger faction levels. I think it takes 400 faction hits of the smallest possible size to go from dubious to apprehensive, while it only takes 100 to go from apprehensive to indifferent and 100 to go from indifferent to amiable.

well, 16 hours is also a very long time

However, I digress since I spent about 8 hours in South Karana killing Vhalen Nostrolo

Started Dubious

Ended ALLY!!!!

I've also got my gem cutter already for the first quest and I've already delivered the letter to Lenindara which means the only thing left for the belt (which is far and above the most important piece for me to get) is to get the Fiery power source from the PoZ's in Kael.

Of course I have now cleared the Zek boys about 5 times now I think (maybe 6) and have yet to see the darn thing. Sucks that they are on like a 2 hour timer.
