I was one of the many level 65 folks who grew tired of EQ post-GoD and haven't played in over a year.

I recently re-upped my accounts (in order to help out a friend who returned to EQ) and was curious as to the most significant changes, especially for Druids, in the past year.

A few of specific questions:

Are Druids better or worse off since GoD?

Are you still having fun? If so, what's the most fun for you?

If I don't want to raid, are there still reasonable ways to improve my character?

Which changes have been the best (or worst) since GoD?

I will likely re-retire after 30 days, but you never know ;)

1) That depends on your perspective. Heals got higher numbers of HP healed and increased efficiency but they are still mana hogs so you need to choose lower level heals if your mana pool isn't big enough.

Mobs in later expansions do not hit as HARD as they did in GoD, so i would say that for the most part it isn't hard for druids to perform healing roles. As for solo roles, there is some OoW content which is soloable as well as some areas in DoN (thudercrest, etc).

2) I am. I love high end raiding, i love re-exploring old areas, grouping with friends doing some old mobs here and there. There's always something fun for me to do for some reason... which not necesarily applies to everyone.

3) Sure. DoN has some awesome stuff for casual people... and OoW drops are very good statwise. There are ways, believe me.

4) So far i dont think i have been disappointed by any changes. Our fire nukes are now the "big nuke" while our cold nukes are now our fast nukes (with lesser damage). Our rain line of spells actually works now. DoTs got their lenght increased and their cast time decreased so they last longer now on mobs. Heals got increased efficiency with more healing power.

1) I don't believe druids have changed much in relation to other classes since GoD.

2) Always. Quad kiting Fire is an all-time fav of mine, but nothing beats a good guild group.

3) Not to the raid gear level. You can still get all the AAs although it will take longer, and you can gear up to 6k HPs/ 7K mana without raiding but if you're that hardcore about it, you might as well be raiding.

4) The best change in my humble opinion is the removal of the innate chance for rains to resist. It's the post-GoD change that most affected my play style.
