Same here, 2004 was such a great year as I got to watch the Buckeyes lose to both of my Big 10 teams.

Looking forward to a comparable level of achievement from THE Ohio St. this year. :rolling:

Hail to the Victors

© Louis Elbel/The Regents of the
University of Michigan

Written 1898

Now for a cheer they are here, triumphant!
Here they come with banners flying,
In stalwart step they're nighing,
With shouts of vict'ry crying,
We hurrah, hurrah, we greet you now,
Hail!

Far we their praises sing
For the glory and fame they've bro't us
Loud let the bells them ring
For here they come with banners flying
Far we their praises tell
For the glory and fame they've bro't us
Loud let the bells them ring
For here they come with banners flying
Here they come, Hurrah!

Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan
the leaders and best
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan,
the champions of the West!

We cheer them again
We cheer and cheer again
For Michigan, we cheer for Michigan
We cheer with might and main
We cheer, cheer, cheer
With might and main we cheer!

Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan,
the champions of the West!

In the Big 10 there is only one thing worse than a Buckeye fan . . .

They at least do not go around randomly shouting "GO BLUE" in a Tourette's-ian manner.

So what two Big 10 teams are you a fan of? The choices are: NorthWORSTern, Wisconsin, where the fans are taken back to the milking shed after each home game, Iowa, which is the longest word spoken in that state, or Purdue, where the men are men and the women are too! :wiggle:

I applaud all Big 10 fans who decide to root for a school other than Ohio State or Michigan. I do so because you really have something to cheer about every other decade when your team goes at least .500 for the season!

So I take it then that the team with the most Rose Bowls wins in the last 12 years is either Michgan or Ohio St.?

Seeing as you are a fan of one of the two - let me know if you need some help counting that high.

I'll hand it to you, Sunglo, you spin those facts as well as the New York Times! I love how you went back exactly TWELVE years to get that 3rd WISCONSIN victory in there.

Now just win 3 more Rose Bowls and you'll match the BIG NUTS. 5 more to match BIG BLUE. So what team is the 2nd Big Ten team you root for? My guess is the BJ Honeycutt Hawkeyes....

Lets look at the last 30 years once, Michigan's 4 wins and 9 losses makes for an underwhelming winning percentage of around 30%.

If Michigan is going to represent the Big 10, the least they could do is win the dang thing at a better rate than that.

PS: Of course OSU's 1-4 record in that time span is kinda pathetic

Is that not the guy from MASH who replaced Trapper John . . .

I could forgive you for being a filthy ultra-conservative...noone should ever hold grudges over politics...but for slandering The Ohio State University Buckeyes, you are forever condemned.

Hail to the Victors

blah blah...blah!

Across the Field

Fight the team across the field!
Show them Ohio's here!
Set the ground reverberating
with a mighty cheer!
RAH RAH RAH!

Hit them hard, we'll see how they fall!
Never let that team get the ball!
Hail! Hail! The teams all here
So lets win that conference now!

Buckeye Battle Cry

In old Ohio there's a team,
That's known thru-out the land;
Eleven warriors, brave and bold,
Whose fame will ever stand,
And when the ball goes over,
Our cheers will reach the sky,
Ohio Field will hear again
The Buckeye Battle Cry.
Drive! Drive on down the field;
Men of the scarlet and gray;
Don't let them thru that line,
We have to win this game today,
Come on, Ohio!
Smash thru to victory,
We cheer you as we go;
Our honor defend
So we'll fight to the end
For Ohio.

When's the last time Wisconsins won a national championship?

never

Ohio State Big Ten Championships?

31. By the by, Wisconsin only has 11

Ohio State Big Ten Championships in the past 12 years? (1993?)
4. Wisconsin and Buckeyes were Co-Champions in 1993 and 1998

Can I get a GO BUCKS!? :devil-lau

Hush Blasphemer!

It is that most August time of year....when the sweet sport of collegiate football beckons us all behind our teams and compels our utmost respect and appreciation of its grandeur.

When we can stand outside as the Midwestern Fall approaches, the most divine season in all of the world. The leaves are multi-hued and the fans more so. The weather is perfect for Brats and Burgers and Booze, that most holy triumverate of victuals.

When you can wake up on a Saturday morning, and hear a marching band playing in the distance, stirring the blood with the sounds of the Penultimate Music...your Fight Song!

If you are one of those lucky few blessed to live close to your team..you can wander down to the stadium and partake of the tail gating, even if you have no ticket for the game, and enjoy the compatriotism of your fellow fans and forget the turmoil and confusion of the world as you bask in the glory of a football game and all of the socialization it brings about!

Oh.

And GO BUCKS!

I think I'll notify the U of W that an ultra-conservative is rooting for them. That's about as anathema as Panamah throwing an RNC victory party! :lmao:

Keep in mind that while I pull for my two Big 10 teams during the season and at will disparage the competition whenever possible, once whatever sport's postseason starts I root for the Big 10 all the way.

Even if it is the Wolverines or Buckeyes.

Guees that is one thing that we can agree on Aidon, nothing better than fall and football.
