just gives me an empty box with the missing image icon in the corner :P

let it sit there for about 10 minutes so I doubt if its still downloading.

EDIT:

Directory surfed him and pulled it direct. It's about 37 meg and seems to be slow connection so I guess I should have let it sit longer.

And it's in quicktime format..grrr...I hate quicktime :P Took me forever to find a quicktime download link that didn't include Itunes.

It is closer to 38 megs.

Worth every second, if you can get it.

Mov file formats look good, but a motherbear to fiddle with and all.

If you are a Rush fan, it is well worth it. Or a 3d art fan.

Got my laptop sitting on my chest(for the bass), almost brought a tear to me old and weary eyes.

Not too badly done. But goes to show you even with heart and soul poured into it, you still can't the human models to look real. They still and probably for quite a bit longer, have the "lifeless" feel to them.

I saw this a few weeks ago over on a Rush board. It's great!

Your right. It was an awesome job but it's missing the little nuances. For example, as I was watching it I realized I was holding my breath waiting for the drummer to breath and he never did...lol.

Yeah, the animation is awesome, definatly a very good job on it. But you are right in the fact he didn't take one breath the whole time.

Maybe that's what missing from most of these animations? Simple human breathing? Well, mobility is a bit "animated", too, but still something as simple as breathing makes all the world of difference (especially *while* moving, not just standing/sitting still).

Because the more they look real, the more they look dead.

It triggers the morbid(mortality) anxiety in us.

Honestly, I think that we are getting close with the art.
Opaque and dynamic skins and subsurface scattering, is a step forward.
Dynamic glossiness is going to need a lot of work. Needed.
Breathing and wrinkling of skin, even minute amounts, especially the face. Needed.
Realistic blinking, and eye movements. Needed.

Still it is a long way from "Steamboat Willy".
Lot further away, than it is from "Looker"

And if you remember that these are just drawings, and those by someone NOT working for Dreamworks, Sony, or Pixar; I think that is remarkable.

Yeah, I fully agree. I think animators, these days, need to take a step backwards a bit and intentionally skew the "humanlike" qualities a bit to differenciate them from humans. Something like Pixar did with The Incrediables. They've actually intentionally skewd the models so people don't get that "irry" dead feel from their animation sequencies.
