View Full Forums : a note on Heal aggro

I still read a lot of the boards, and it occured to me that they might break something with the upcoming heal aggro changes.
I used nature's infusion for the short while that I had it before I retired sometimes *intentionally* to tear aggro off of an enchanter. I would much rather have had my 5,000 hp, 1,000 AC druidic booty being beat on than the 2,500 hp, 600 AC enchanter. It is much easier for an enchanter to get a mez off on a creature that isn't currently beating on him. I would use earthen roots to snap of a no-damage root (read: doesn't break mez) on the creature and back the hell off it while the chanter worked on mez.
I dunno, maybe instead of worrying about heal aggro, perhaps you could give druids and clerics a spell similar to the wizard spell concussion.

I note you say you are retired. Not trying to bash but if you were in the tier 3+ planes, you'd know why we need heal aggro fixed. Nature's Infusion is a death sentence if used to heal a chanter/shaman early in a fight (or anyone for that matter). I have around 5700 hp, 1030ish AC when fully buffed. I die in 2 to 3 rounds after that one heal lands. That's before anyone can react and get it off me. In VT and Ssra, a druid could heal the chanters and wizards and shamans fairly well. In pop, in the harder zones, with "normal" mobs hitting for 800+'s x2 (or more), its just not possible.
I think a) Nature's Infusion needs a casting time of 2.8 seconds not 3.8, b) it needs to have its aggro halved at least. The raids slow down because the healers are dying all the time. Clerics/druids/shamans always oom from just being rezzed, yawn, boring.

You should get Tank AAs:
Combat Agility
Combat Stability
Lightning Reflexes
Innate Defense
These help alot when getting heal agro.

What Klarabell said...I've seen a druid get aggro off the mob *during* a cheal roation for casting NI. That's just wrong.
I got munched yesterday for casting NI early in the fight as I thought I was gonna loose the tank if I cast Tunare or Karana. Squish.
Fix plz thx.

I have ND3, and CA1.
But, I doubt that'll help. I mean, the TANKS are dying as fast as I am LOL. Seriously. 10% more chance to dodge probably increases my chance from 1% to 1.1%.....

NI definately has too much agro. But it's an extremely powerful spell (someone used to assist healing can save 30lives each raid heh) so it sounds normal to keep it with a relatively high agro.

It doesn't save 30 lives, it just redirects who dies.

Well, imagine casting Chloroblast on caster or puller in PoN when you're fighting those Hobgoblins and being dead the next second. I used to be able to cast a quick chloro on anyone in any situation at any time of the fight, including the pull, and it wouldn't cause unnecessary aggro. In PoP you can heal halfway through the fight and still get aggro. It sucks big time.
If you wanna get a mob off a chanter snare it, root it, Ro's it, but don't heal him, unless he is about to snuff it.
Healing is only good to draw aggro in PoP, but you'll probably be dead the next second.
Ciao for now!

2 Hendin's come into camp... blam blam blam 3 800 pt AE's go off nearly back to back. The fight goes on a for a few more seconds, another 800 pt AE... I NI myself as I am getting low on life. Please note I have done nothing to the mobs themselves, no other heals, no debuffs, nukes, etc. NI lands on me, one of them turns on me and kills me. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm................. This was last night. Ugh. I hate Hendin's....

Learned my lesson, two groups with 3 clerics combined. Twice I healed the clerics from where they got agro, got agro myself and died.. Decided they can heal themselves.

I think the patch helped heal agro some, I have a few points in on CA and I had to use NI doing HP for catchup day and we were pulling some of the skellies out where ranger down on that mini boss of circle spawn of death, I had to use a NI and got agro and used it back and forth between myself and group member who had initial agro and only got hit about 5 times total and they didnt really seem all that mad, whereas 8 of those guys would have easliy killed me for casting that before :) I also played with NI in BoT, as long as I am casting my CHlites on incs and use NI on the people the mobs are Very very ticked off at, I did not get any agro at all in BoT and we cleared the entire bottom and one of the upper wings just hanging out to see what had changed after hours raid.
Tsalarian those tank abilities are very good to get yes I agree...however they dont help a druid anywhere near as good as a tank so dont get peoples hopes up that much :)
Generally though if people want to get tank abilities LR is one of the better ones to get..I have it at LR 4...and you do notice a difference. But on bigger mobs you just get owned a few seconds later ;) .....but this could mean a cleric can get in a heal in time which is good.

I planned on doing that eventually, but I should not have to just now in order for me to play a class that should not get hit. For my playstyle and EQ creed, please see sig below =)

From all the feedback I am getting even from tanks LR5 is great CS 3 is good Id is a waste of points. So yes some tank AAs are good, but we just need to avaiod damage, and keep HPs up, we arent meleeing (much :) ) so CS wont mitirgate the damage as much for a druid and tanks say its a waste of points.
