Nah, items get Exp separately. They "level-up" to the next step after a while.

I thought intelligent items were supposed to be flagged somehow? I forgot their name but it doesn't show up in the screenshots of the examples. meaning: MAGIC ITEM, LORE ITEM, INTELLIGENT(?)
