I have read these threads and other than Dayuna's I have seen so much about whats wrong with druids today. Is there anyone here willing to post about what they wouldn't change. What makes you enjoy playing your class? Why do you think being a druid is a good idea? Etc!

I am just learning my druid and enjoy every ounce of knowledge I can get, so fire away.

I chose a druid because my main is a Paladin. Even tho Paladin's can solo, (so I hear!) I wasn't able to do it effectively. That's the main reason I chose to make a druid, was to be able to solo... There are many nights when I am not raiding that I'd just like to kick back and kite or rot a few mobs before heading to the bed! So, far I haven't been disappointed, granted she's still a baby, things are going well. So, any postive feedback on this thread would be greatly appreciated.

Adapatable, we can do nearly anything to some degree which can make or break the group in certain situations.

Quick Moving: We can get nearly anywhere very quickly between our port spells, Camo, and Eagle. If your ever late to a raid as a druid, you where slacking =p

Decent Survivability: Granted we can't take hits all that well without AA and gear, however Between Succor, Egress, Exodus, Everlasting Breath, Levation, Camo, etc there is nearly no enviroment we can not function well in. We are almost totally self sufficant.

And the best thing abotu being a druid is I get lots of tells from Naeyene =p

The ability to work with anyone almost anywhere doing almost anything. Kite group, dps, snare, heal, buff. Name it, a druid can prolly do it. If not, then you just aren't trying hard enough. :P

and trying to stump Fenier(:physics:) on some random trivia question at anytime.

So far I am 1 for 35.

I love how good we are at helping people. We can help with ports and buffs, show up and provide DS or heals, come through in an emergency, get someone out of a tight spot.

I also really like being able to solo. I never go LFG, I just solo until someone is hard up for a healer, or my friends have room in a group. If there is someone looking for group and getting lonely I can invite them to come duo with me, or just hang out and sponge exp until they find one. And if I am grouped I never mind leaving if someone needs a group, cause I can always go solo without loosing too much.

With the new expansion I am really happy about the opportunities for druids, the mobs seem to have low fire and magic resists and they dont hit so so hard. Those solo tasks are easily duoed with a druid but hard to do alone, so I can grab anyone pretty much and help them with their tasks, and get a bit of experience myself.

Plus I love being a class that can fly.

The ability to solo. It's why I chose a druid as my main once I had played a warrior long enough to learn the basics of EQ.

That's still what I like most about the class - doing it all. Pull, split, nuke, heal, CC - whatever needs to be done. I take pride in being able to say all 70 levels and 221 AAs I earned soloing.

Also, I like being able to help out other players as needed. Like the monk who needed help taking down the goranga prophet for the shard, and I was the only other person in the zone. He whacked, I healed him and dispelled the mob. Or the ranger who needed the glowing zrathril amulet in Nadox for his quest spell - I charmed the exhausted bloodtusk, we cleared the room a couple of times, and he got his drop. I can't even guess at the number of CRs that I've helped people with.

It's the chance encounters in EQ that I enjoy. I'm not much for grouping, obviously, but I like being able to help out others when they need a hand, even if it's something as simple as a player finding himself in a zone way over his level and desperately wanting a port out. The versatility of the class lets me help out in a lot of different ways.

I love having one of the most sought after buffs in EQ ( Oak ). In the good old days, nobody wanted Glades( later, cabbage ). It took the PoP era for folks to begin to appreicate what we bring to the table buffwise. Our DS is also quite formidable.

SOE, SOE, SOE, SOE, SOE, SOE. I love to float and Innate camo gives me the warm fuzzies. Add those two together with egress, exodus and tracking and we are a pretty darn good scout class.

Snare/Egress splitting mobs rocks!!

And finally.... Picking up chicks in Freeport with Booboo!!!!! (he's soooo cute)

I wouldn't reroll on another class ever. This is the only class I love.

The ability to be told "You can't do that!" and turn around and accomplish it.

To be able to wear so many different hats. Some nights ya feel like nuking, some nights ya feel like healing, and some nights ya ust feel like a nut.

To truely be the jack of all trades. I am the master of none! But ya know what? I can still do more than you! My juggling skill is great!

I am never bored. I never have to sit and do the same monotanous thing over and over. I can mix it up and still be just as effective.

oh! And you can't beat the leather outfits!

LOL! YAY~ Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure there was still some druid love out there!

Suva- your right Half Elves in leather you can't beat... you need that stick in your sig to beat them off! :)

Aldier- don't feel bad~ I have only manage to stump him once! I bet though that he wouldn't admit it!

Sildan- I am not sure that picking up chicks with BooBoo is really that great of a selling point on druids to me! :) Does Booboo pick up hot looking men too?

Love love love our versatility, and like others here, I love the 'helpful' aspect of being a druid. And we have so many useful abilities that allow us to fill many different roles, that let us get in and out of interesting places/situations, and that allow us to adventure nearly anywhere with a group or solo.

Being a druid is as fun as you make it, in my opinion. I've dabbled in other classes, but I'm a druid at heart and I love it.

I tried it out on Fenier once but He didn't seem interested. Guess I'll have to stick to sharin the Wood Elf Honeys with the Quon!!

My druid is my first character ever in EQ. I started him in July 2001. I have since plvled myself a monk as a 2nd box got like 620 some aa's on him and a friend of mine chanter quit gave me his account and a friend of mine cleric also can't play anymore, I have 4 different toons/accounts. I must say they are ok to play but if I don't have my druid I feel kinda like I'm missing something. There is so much I can do with my druid compared to the other classes. To me my druid was my first pick as a character and it's really the class that I enjoy playing the most by far, I never looked back.

I am in a high end guild so my druid is very well geared, also have over 1100 aa's. It just seems there is so many things I can do with my druid as others have mentioned.

Port to get places fast ( I know there is stones for everything but you gotta run for them and know where they are I can just pop a spell and move me or my grp there faster and it's a convenience for me... yes I'm lazy. why run when you can port lol )

Snare (most powerful spell imo on mobs that don't sumon) root (awesome ability) and with the root aa's maxed I can nuke and not even break root.

Dots (very efficient for soloing) very awesome for playing in DoD as mobs have more hp than in OoW making a druid a way more efficient dps machine in those new zones.

Debuffs (makes any other casters make more dps on fire and cold)

Nukes ( I like being a wizzard :) )

Heals ( My heals are the second most powerful in the game, they might be a little mana intensive I do hope SoE lowers the mana cost but to me they are working just fine besides that)

Evac ( I can bail out my grp of sticky situations instantly with Exodus or about 3.5 sec with Succor)

Innate Camo ( <3 this new aa so does my friends and grps)

Rez aa ( when the cleric dies or any other I can get them back to finish the mission and then they can rez in the lobby 3 hours is usually plenty to finish and then get a rez)

Fire and cold resists (best ones in the game, I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I get a red message that I have resisted a caster :) )

Regen and DS (awesome buffs)

Lion str (5% more to melee dps if you don't have a shaman melees love this spell)

And I could go on all day lol oh yeah Floaty... I like Flight of the Eagle :)

To be honest as to why I picked a druid, when I started playing Everquest in the late summer of 2000, I played a mage for awhile and also had a bard and my brother had a paladin. In April, he and I got separate accounts and I rolled a druid for 1 thing. Ports. Back then, travelling around was a big deal. I had played a mage for a bit and didn't care for the flimsiness of wizards so decided to go with a druid instead and have not regretted it for one day.

One thing i love as a druid ..

FEEL THE FREEDOM

Rolled a ranger in 2000, then rerolled a druid and never left it. This feeling gave me a rush in early days and kept me playing all this time (ahhhh flying on DL snowy landscape from peak to peak :) .. such a feeling .. or chain pulling hoppers in DSP with my trusty(?) hopper pet!!))
Got very angry when i felt freedom was lost after lev 60 .. now happy again and looking forward to keep playing (umpf i had promised my GF i would quit .. i guess i'l break the promise though :(
BTW, hurrahh to our representatives (and to SOE for once) for the new spells and aa's .. some nice stuff finally our class needed it badly :)

I love my Druid. I started on on another server and met someone in RL who played and asked me to join them on Druzzil Ro. He PL'ed me and helped me grow fast. Then I went on to learning how to Solo. That was back in 2000 and now I am in a growing new Guild and learning more and getting better geared. I am on almost all heal rotations if not main and secondary heal for tanking adds. and even crownd control for adds. The AE snare works wonders for us Druids and AE nuke for Quadding. Some people think other classes are better at quadding but i don't aggree. The only class i think that beats us is maybe a bard.
I also love the new exspansion cause we got some beneficial things out of it to contribute to groups and raid. But as far as the DOD MM missions well haven't been on one that has anything to do with druids.

Absolutely adore the druid! I'm proud to say it's my main and only character after 7 years in the game. I agree with all the previous posts, actually. My favorite aspect is the true versatility and the solo ability. Unlike some other classes, we are never stuck unable to play (no healer or have to rely on potions, etc. to solo). If you want a group, you go in a group, if you want to solo, you go solo for a bit.

I know there are things that could be better/different/more helpful, but as a druid you always have the versatility--maybe you'd rather be doing something in a different spot, but you can always solo somewhere if there's nothing to do. And LOVE the ports, I like to get where I want to go quickly!

Much druid love to you all :)
