I've been out of the EQ loop for a long time! So, please bear with my noob questions...I've re-activated my account and want to start playing again.

I haven't played since, mmm, PoP I think. Maybe 1 expansion after. What's new/good in spells since then? What epansions would you get if you were coming back right after PoP? I'll be coming back guildless - my guild pretty much disbanded when WoW came out - so I'll probably be soloing most of the time.

What are the biggest changes for druids and clerics and how do they balance now? (loaded questions I'm sure)

Nothing much changed for Druids, except the new 0% rez AA. Perhaps Skin of the Reptile spell is a nice change but not that notable.

If you were gone 1 expansion after PoP then you are probably missing Legends of Ykesha (LoY) or not, this is the expansion that came out after PoP I believe. Then came out other expansions in this order: Lost Dungeons of Norrath (LDoN), Gates of Discord (GoD), Omens of War (OoW), Dragons of Norrath (DoN) and the last expansion which came out in Sept: Depths of Darkhollow.

Definately get Omens of War, so you can get the new levels, AAs and spells. Good solo spots there as well as group spots. You may go from there if you wish. LoY is an ok expansion for some bank space (lol), LDoN is pretty much abandoned. DoN provides good grouping and buyable upgrades. DoD is kinda tough expansion too, but the Monster Missions are wicked fun and awesome exp.

LDON is abandoned? I see folks asking for groups for LDON often in POK, well this was 2 months ago.............has it stopped totally on some servers?
As for LOY......I thought for level 52-59 it si great loot and exp? What did you mean by freeing up bank space?

Well, LDoN is dead for lvl 70s, so, guess it kind of depends what level Seriena is.

Tejaye, you don't have to flame me. I have my own perspective and you have your own. If you wish to help this person you just have to put in your 2 cents, but flaming me won't help anyone.

He didn't say LoY freed up bank space; he was referring to the 2 shared bank slots...that's the expansion they came out with.

That and the caster robe dyes made that expansion worthwhile.

Uh no... LoY gave 8 more bank slots. The shared bank slots are free.

Honestly, I don't think Tejaye was flaming you. However, it does point out something that everyone should keep in mind: your current experiences in the game are not necessarily going to be similar to experiences other players will have. This is true because of different levels, different server environments, different time frames, and the like.

On some servers, druids can find groups fairly readily for new or recent material (or so I hear, anyway), and the game is still afoot. From my perspective, not only is this not so, but I don't see a lot of activity for any classes, period, and the game appears on its last gasping breath. Forget about LDON, even the new material is nearly dead. Having 50 or 60 friends who still play the game on a regular basis can drastically affect your perspective.

The truth, of course, is somewhere in between.....

Ack no Nim i wasnt flaming you and i apologize if you thought i was. I am the last person to flame but gaming is barely part time at best. I have been off game for a few months ever since i completed my Epic 1.0 i took a break, lame for some, but awsome for me being a part timer.
I just recalled lots of level 50ish folks and lower like myself doing LDON and i got worried that nobody does it anymore. I was worried, not flaming, sorry if you took it that way.

Having done much the same thing as the OP I originally just purchased LDoN, GoD and OOW as they were only $9.99 and it gave me plenty to be getting on with. However, I've since purchased DoN because the people I've met go there a lot and will probably buy DoD in the next week or so because they do a lot of MMs too.

So much for working my way back in slowly. :)

I would say LoY is a necessary expansion simply for Pure Blood spell. Unless there is another way to get it that I'm not aware of?

Whoops, sorry, Nim, I knew LoY gave more bank space, but its been a while and I forgot the details (see how spoiled we get?)...still, I just meant that's what you were referring to.

LoY in a nutshell:
8 bank slots
Pure blood
Healing Waters if you need a really long quest that will keep you occupied for several days/weeks depending on how casual you are.
