Now you too can calculate the exact amount of BS in any given document. (http://www.fightthebull.com/bullfighter.asp)

That's nifty. I ran it on some of my guild board messages and some stuff from here.

On average, the clipped news articles come up as around 4-5 on the index with a complaint that "you like to hear yourself talk".

This message had a BCI of 9.3 with a Flesch comment of:

Diagnosis: Clear. You get to the point. Short sentences describe key thoughts concisely. Readers of all levels can focus on the message rather than finding their way through difficult text. The good Dr. Flesch would be proud of you.

I've thought about running it on some of the stuff I've written, but all my stuff is required to be written the way it is by various governing agencies. Heck, I have to review it annually and three are times I've fallen asleep while reading some of it. I just don't want to know how bad a document is that has my name as the author.

If the government makes you write is a certain way I'm sure its 100% bs but not your fault.

Oh yeah, I used to have a word processort that would give you a Flesch rating and tell you what level of education someone would need to understand what you wrote.

This is similar to the "Fog Index", that measures how easy something is to understand. The Fog Index has been around since at least the 1970s.
