Since the inclusion of critical nukes (Wizards get it naturally and us druids and other nukers (?) via AA) I've also been thinking about dots and other stuff. Shaman and Necros should be able to crit dot, don't you think? And again others (like us) get that ability via AA. Also I think Chanters should be able to crit mez/charm, which means the mez/charm will last twice as long, Necros Crit fear (fear lasts twice as long), Clerics/Pallys crit stun (twice as long...), etc. you get the idea.
Why just have this available for nukes? I think it is only logical each pure class get it naturally for their primary ability, and every other class that has the ability be able to get it via AA.
I'm not taking focus effects into consideration like extended affliction because I don't feel like it. :)

How about this? Worth some thought?

Ciao for now!

I thought I remembered reading that any spell that left an icon could not crit at all. I'm not sure if it's a game mechanics kinda thing, but I could have sworn I heard that somewhere. (Which is why I was curious to see if any clerics had ever had CH crit when using the Donal's BP post nerf #2).

There's an AA skill which makes buffs last longer. That is a spell icon and should be easily translatable to damage, mez/charm, fear, etc. type spells. Stuns don't have an icon (or do they? I'm not feeling too well and I'm still at work :-/ ).

But it seems logical imo to have something like this.
or not?

Shamans, necros, rangers, pallies, clerics can crit nuke AFTER using up a lot of AA points. Wizzies can do it naturally. That's what I'm vouching for. Chanters should be able to crit mez/charm, pallies/clerics crit stun, necros/shaman crit dot NATURALLY. And the AA ability included for other classes which have the same type of spell. We can dot and after a certain AA investment should be able to crit dot.
I was just thinking it didn't seem right crits were only focused on nukes (via AA). They should be available all across the spell casting spectrum with some limitations.

Ciao for now!

Wizards were given the ability to crit "naturally" as a measure of class balance, as a more conservative alternative than simply raising the raw damage numbers on their DD spells.

I personally don't think a "critical hit" capability is very logical for damage types other than direct damage (melee and spell). Maybe the concept itself could be expanded for other abilities, to add rarely-occuring "special" benefits, but not necessarily damage spells.

I don't think we need any more crit abilities for any class. It just adds to mudflation.

Eq is about mudflation, in case you hadn't noticed. Mudflation in and of itself isn't necessarily a problem but if handled incorrectly it can be disasterous.
