I'll be to the point for a change:

I suspect that Focus III items will not be changed to affect level 61-65 spells, and that Focus IV items will be introduced.

I own 5 Focus III items and will be disgusted if the time and pp I spent getting them has been wasted, not to mention that watching the best item I've ever been awarded (Boots of Superiority) get banked and never used again will just plain suck!

I have no evidence to point you to for my hypothesis but I am so sure I saw something somewhere about focus IV.

Hehe, believe it. That is exactly what they are going to do. For some reason they are more worried about "bottom feeding", than implementing Focus items in a way that makes sense.

They are doing. In the same boat. I have all my slots for focus items all set so I dread going after new focus items. And some spells won't be as good as old spells until you get the new focus item.

If they make our Planar spells as rare and difficult to get as our high-end SOL spells, you'll be able to use your focus III items for some time to come. |I Unless you're in an extreme minority of top-tier guilded druids, you won't even be able to buy high level PoP spells for months after PoP is released, and then at 100k each or more.

I'm really hoping Verant goes another route and allows new spells to be quested and purchased or some combination of the two. The whole "moonfire" fiasco represented the very worst of EQ -- so many people working to achieve a level and then not having access to their basic, non-ancient spells of that level.

Frankly I see absolutely 0 reason to level past 63 right now. It will be easier to get AA xp at the lower level, and the spells for level 64 and 65 are lacking/unimpressive and I'd much prefer to use my old spells with all the focus effects I have acquired. The new nukes are bad efficiency and not much of a damage upgrade for such poor efficiency, I'll just stick to moonfire with mana reduction, spellhaste, and damage 3 focus and hopefully I will get the ancient nuke sometime within the next month ;p. Rest of the lineup has its own problems like Blessing of the Nine being regulated to a 1700 mana self-buff because they lowered its hitpoints - either make it single target for around 600 mana or make it so Blessing of Nine + symbol gives around a 100+ hp bonus over group Virtue.

Anyway, with the old focus items not working, I dont think I will use most of our new spell line up. Really no level 61 or 62 spells catch my eyes as a big enough upgrade to warrant using, I know I wont be using the new regens cause they are expensive mana cost and are not effected by my extended time focus or mana preservation focus items. Rest of the level 61/62 spells are mostly upgrade to the debuff line of spells which I never found that useful so using the lower level versions wont be that noticeable of difference. Level 63 has some nice spells, but again I dont know how useful they will be without focus effects. My heal 3 focus, spell haste, mana presevation all wont work on the new heal, similarly none of the focus effects will work on the new dot. The only spell I know I will definitely use are the cold debuff, protection of seasons - lasts a long time so dont mind as much no focus effects working on it, and possibly the new animal charm if it works on high level mobs and lasts 3 hours as stated. I guess I will probably still use the new heal even though none of the effects work on it since it is quite a significant upgrade over chloroblast.

Oh yeah, Vex thal focus effects were changed to level 63, but normal focus items were not. That just leads even further proof that Verant's plan is for everyone to re-equip themselves, and I bet focus items in PoP wont be easy to achieve. So alot of casters will be sticking to level 60 and under spells in PoP, brilliant design move there. Oh well, I guess in this expansion casters dont have to stress over finding the new spells as they wont be especially used other than the new buff spells that add extra hitpoints.
