Ink-jet printing has come a long way; we used to use it for what was called "hard copy." Soon, you will be able to use a modified ink-jet printer to make yourself some breakfast.

When they are using their machines to build up whole brains, they'll have quite a market.

With some of the coffee I've had, printer ink would be an acceptable substitute :) .

Reminds me Heinlein's CHON food -- stands for carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen.

I just thinking the other day that the next breakthrough in communications might be transmitting the sensation of touch, in the same way that we can now transmit sight and sound. Maybe they'll get round to taste first, but if they try to sell us bad bacon then it'll never take off.

They've been faxing plastic objects for awhile now. I knew a guy that worked at a company where they coudl create 3d objects using a vat of some sort of plastic and laser light. Anyway, you could receive the data needed to create an object and it'd come out of your vat of plastic stuff. Pretty cool!

The article mentions it but they've been printing drugs for awhile now.
