So I went to eqrankings and sorted the magelo profiles (all servers, all classes) by avoidance.

Out of all the profiles in their database, 47 of the top 100 sorted by avoidance are druids.

I'm not sure what to make of that; just thought it was interesting. I'd have expected to see more monks in that list (only two made the top 100).

I was also astounded by that too. What i make of it is this. It doesn't matter. You max your avoidance out in game at 100, any extra does nothing. It's still pretty cool though :wiggle: .

Also, i do not know if they have changed that, it's just the way i remember it.

Leather armor typically has more avoidance than other armor types.

Yeah, but I'd have thought there would be more monks and beastlords up there, also being leather classes.

I've noticed this a lot lately. Yeah, leather is always loaded with avoidance, but the kicker is all the non-visible items I want lately for their rare focus also have avoidance. I'm sure this works out nicely for other classes, especially plate who generally get shielding, but it's not so good for leather when it's the only mod you have maxed yet have little choice but to get more.

So we know a lot of druids have and/or like avoidance - my question is this: how beneficial is that avoidance?

I've had conflicting advice. One druid I know say that x Avoid = yAC, and is not worth it... another swears that avoidance is godly and should be actively sought after.

Anyone have any more precise details?

I would be one that says avoidance is worth it, you can see the absurdidly awesome difference once you got a conbination of both the AAs and the capped 100 avoidance.

Displayed AC is pretty much meaningless. It's a composite of numbers that is supposed to represent how well you take damage overall, but the numbers aren't weighted properly.

Yes, there's a HUGE, immediately noticeable difference from the avoidance AAs and avoidance modifiers combined.

Yeah, but I'd have thought there would be more monks and beastlords up there, also being leather classes.

I think it has to do with the non visible slots.. melee items used to be balanced more so towards having shielding or accuracy or one of the other more meleecentric effects, where caster items would have avoidance. I think originally they didn't want max avoidance to be too accessible for tanks.

how beneficial is that avoidance

The hard number was 100 avoidance = 10% avoidance (not sure if that's 10% to your original avoidance % or on top of it though)

I have all kinds of different ways to avoid getting hit and when I see a hard hitting mob miss up to half their hits or when I get stunned, but the next few hits miss me and I get to run away-- I think my avoidance is way worth it! Oh, and I like stun resist as well!
