hey all,
have been away from EQ for 5 years now. I see that most on these boards are 65 plus, when i last played 60 was max. i will be starting up again very soon and was looking for some idea of difficulty. I will be starting as a newbie of course. Can i get some feedback as to what has changed regarding lvl progression, coin gathering, and just wondering, will i be the only completly lame druid in the midst of a flood of twinks?

Welcome back!

If I may...my suggestion to you is to start on one of the new progression servers. That way you will not be in a "sea" of twinks and you get a chance to start on a server from the begining of it all instead of jumping in at the end.

This will also help you level up again as there are plenty of people in all level ranges on the progression servers.

Good luck! :wiggle:

The next expansion currently promises new content for levels 1-75. If you're looking for a lot of new content where there will be many players to group with, odds are this expansion will be a good one for you. There might be twinks, but the progression for the entire expansion is supposed to be adjusted to scale up to the current top-tier grouping players (i.e. little over 200hp/mana in each slot). Much of the gear you would see with this expansion will likely blow the stuff you're used to out of the water, and if twinks are running around, you have a good chance to get the items since the twinks won't need them.

To answer the questions posed:
Level progression is still the same for the most part, many of the zones that I would recommend leveling in would be familiar up until you hit early-mid 50s. After 60, you'll see a push to either go solo or be a healer in groups.

Coin gathering as far as I know hasn't changed much, selling old gear, selling tradeskill items, and the ever-popular Rathe Mountain Hill Giants.

I doubt you will be the only untwinked player around, but you will see a lot of the twinked variety. With the changes coming in the new expansion, however, there won't be a large difference between twinked and untwinked druids.

One thing that comes to mind as far as making money is the barter system which has been added to the regular marketplace... well infact, the whole bazaar has a new layout: red area for regular selling your wares and a blue area for setting up a toon to buy things you want.

Selling to those looking for particular items can help with a quick turn around of cash, but be warned that what people pay is usually much lower than what you would get if you set up a trader and waited patiently for someone to purchase your loot. There are many ways people can play the market, buy low - sell high, etc. But for starting from scratch you might benefit from some quick cash for spells etc, check the barter system for people paying for silks, skins, pelts, & foraged stuff, usually at a higher return than from an NPC merchant.

The commands are /bar (barter) and /baz (bazaar) to bring up search screens.
