What Canadians do for fun (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060920/od_nm/cbc1_dc;_ylt=AkE11P7fiob7TTy3BCl0Rbms0NUE;_ylu=X3o DMTA3NW1oMDRpBHNlYwM3NTc-)
OTTAWA (Reuters) - The chairman of the publicly funded Canadian Broadcasting Corp. has resigned after remarks about bestiality and ruminations about defecation, Canadian Heritage Minister Bev Oda said on Tuesday.

Guy Fournier created an uproar in Canada's Lebanese community and in the media when he claimed that Lebanon allowed men to have sexual relations with female animals, but reserved the death penalty for those who did so with male animals.

In comments made in May, and replayed in a CBC weekend interview, he talked at length about the joys of bowel movements.

"He has increasingly lost the confidence of Canada's new government," Oda told the House of Commons. "I inform this House that I have received the voluntary resignation of Mr. Fournier effective today."

Heh. I wouldn't have heard about it, but thanks Pan :) . It wasn't on the news station I watch. I did find a brief mention of it on page 4 of the newspaper I get. I don't really have a comment, except that it's interesting that this isn't big news in Canada :)

Just wanted to even the score a bit. We're not the only ones with crazy people in charge.

The equivalant of the head of PBS (ok ok CBC bit more robust and influential but!) is hardly someone in a big leadership position!

Yeah, but we either put them in institutions or ignore them (mostly ignore them) :)

We do have Canadian crazies out there, like the guy that tried to build a bear-proof suit of armor.

Also the Darwin award Toronto lawyer who demonstrated the strength of the plate glass windows in a high-rise office tower to articling students. He ran down a hall and threw his full weight against a window. Splat (on the pavement, not on the window).

... but mostly we banish the crazies to an eccentric, hermit life in the frozen north where they can converse with the lichen. After all, it wouldn't be proper for a crazy to drink high tea with the Queen. :)

We send the funnier crazies like Jim Carrey and Mike Myers to the U.S. where they feel more at home.

And we thank you for that!

Your crazy people in charge seem more harmless than our.

LOL!

This news seem to be bigger in the US that in the english part of Canada. It is a medium news in Québec, but Fournier was alway a (very) colorfull ones outside of his expertise domaine (making TV show). Making his resign more a question of when that will happen, but I have to admit that he was acting worse lately.

If that guy's other inventions are not hoaxes, that guy is a genious and Canadian national treasure.

That is the Fire Paste guy. I have seen his videos, and he seems plausible enough, but I would like to see it for myself.
