Am I the only one sick of having to debuff (Hand of Ro) trash to get my nukes to work?

Every single mob requires a debuff before I can nuke it.

Imagine the uproar if before melee could do any damage to a mob they had to use a disc.

Yeah, getting a bit frustrated that my bls slows and cripples won't land, nor my druid's snares. Supposedly they fixed it with this last patch, haven't been on to see if this is the case.

Ouch when snare doesn't work - Serpent Vines is the best snare in game, from a resist perspective.

As for having to debuff.... I guess we're in the same boat as many classes. Shamans have been whining forever about having to malo before their dots will land reliably.

What annoys the snot out of me is that mobs in Icefall require Hand of Ro before you stop getting partial resists on a fire nuke. That just makes no sense at all.

i Throw an immolation dot on then nukes stick 99% of the time

Quite right, I should have said "fire debuff" rather than hand of ro :)

AAARGH .. at 73 now .. to nuke in a kinda SLOW (nonuber) group...
Direwind Current west camp:

-skin to vines (sticks rarely, gonna dump it probably)
-immo
-hand
-cold defuff (mob at 50% now)
-71 ice rain
-old ice rain (if mob>10%)
-fire/ice nuke (mob dead).

damage done about 15k .. mob hp 100k?

Skin to Vines varies by mob type.

In Direwind, it doesn't work on the Splorali for sure, since they are already plants.

I typically just debuff grind mobs with the type of spell most of the group is using. If I'm in with BLs and rangers, I'll use cold nukes and rains and debuff ice. If it's wizzies and mages, I typically just debuff with immo (-40 fire debuff seems to be enough to do the trick) and then dawnstrike.

Doing everything just doesn't seem effective to me on mobs that won't last 40 seconds anyway.

BTW, I believe they did fix resists with the patch, seems like just about everything I cast lands now, to at least some extent. I've only seen resist messages here and there since.

Yep serpent is best then recast ensnare if you are kiting (if its animal and no chanter with you throw a glamour of tunare on and root will last longer for you root rot folks)

Immo is only debuff I use and all my fire nukes stick.....in fact vengance won't land most the time unless Immo is on :)

skin to vines doesnt work in anguish either, are anguish mobs also classed as plants? lol.

in fact ive noticed it doesnt work in LOTS of places, so much so i rarely bother to mem it.

Ditto. I think it's great in theory, but the whole "check body type/change body type" thing is a lot more trouble than it's worth. It adds a nice flavour, but really there's no practical reason to do it.

I'd like to see this spell changed to a debuff (on that note - why is it filed under Magic DD in the spell menu?) like Icefall Breath, adding to fire DD and slash damage and that's it. No body type change, no body type check. Make undead immune if you like, to preserve the "only living" aspect, but let it end there. Same effect, no complicating body type changes or issues about reapplying.
