LOS ANGELES -- They've been naturalized U.S. citizens for nearly 20 years, but Benny Diaz said he and his wife felt intimidated when they each received a letter over the weekend warning that some immigrants could be jailed or deported for voting next month.

The letter, written in Spanish and sent to an unknown number of Hispanics in Orange County, also says the government has developed a computer system to track down the names of immigrant voters.

"A lot of Latino families have called me to say they ripped up the letter because they felt so insulted," said Diaz, 49, who is originally from Peru. His wife, Nellie, is from Mexico.

*sigh*

I wonder how many illegal immigrants actually try to vote illegally. What a waste of time.

I'm trying to figure out how illegal immigrants feel they have the right to vote?

Why do you assume they do feel that way?

It's unclear who sent the letter.
I hope they find out who sent the letters.

That was my fault. I read the article and I thought it said "illegal immigrants" not "immigrants". That's where my confusion came from, my bad.

They've been naturalized U.S. citizens for nearly 20 years, but Benny Diaz said he and his wife felt intimidated when they each received a letter over the weekend warning that some [illegal] immigrants could be jailed or deported for voting next month.

"Now here's a shocker", she said, her voice dripping with irony.

You can't convince me you didn't believe that right from the start.

Well, it was sort of obvious. :p

Ok, so now they've traced the purchase of the addresses for those hispanics to the Candidate and he is still proclaiming innocence: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2603480
