View Full Forums : Percentage Based AA Healing

I'd propose that Verant create a new 59th level druid spell, with a counterpart AA Class ability. The spell itself would NOT have a fixed heal amount, but instead would be a percentage, based upon the number of points a druid has spent in the spell's corresponding AA. I'm not picky about names, so we'll just call it "Higher Healing" for now.

Suggested: the cost would be 3 points per ability level.
After putting the first 3 points into HH, the druid would be able to use the spell to cast a 25% heal (essentially the same as a monk's mend) for 300 mana. After the second 3 points spent, the druid could cast a 33% heal for 350 mana, and after the final 3 points, a 40% heal for 400 mana.

Since this AA works through casting an actual spell, it suffers the same limitations (requires memorization, an allocated spell slot, refresh time, mana usage, etc). Its casting time and mana usage would be enhancable through focus items.

Druids who are often called on to perform a healing role for their guilds and groups, would be able to devote AA to the task, whereas druids who primarily act as damage dealers could put more effort towards their offensive AAXPs.

This heal would be little use for exp grinding (where RotG + NT or CB is more efficient), and no use for soloing, but the druid could useful in more raid-level encounters, and could even step in and supplement heals for an LD or aggro'd cleric for a short period of time, until the CH rotation can adjust.

Too off-the-wall?

Call it "Tunare's Sweet Lovin"

'Tunare gives you a 'lil sweet lovin'.
You feel much better.

or maybe just "Aidon's Sweet Lovin"
'Aidon gives you a 'lil sweet lovin'.
You feel violated.

Normally class skills cost 3, 6 and 9 pts - nomatter how usefull/less - so that should probably also be the case here.

Casting time is also an important issue - but if you make it 10 sec you are certain not to step on cleric toes (well, not due to the casting time anyway).

You might also need to exclude spell haste, Improved Healing and Mana Preservation from working with it - just like those dont work with CH. HG and HA would still help this spell - while they dont practically help CH as the extra healing is wasted.

Just to be clear - if you had a 6 sec spell in mind that was helped by all focus items then you would end up with:

- ~52% heal (HA, HG, IH) for 294 mana (SCM3, spec200, IH) that cast in 5.1 sec (spell haste)

Compared to CH
- 100% heal for 316 mana in 10 sec.

So, 10 sec and exclude focus items and the idea has merit imho - faster casting and include focus items and its too good.

Would Aidons spell be a dot?

"Your target looks as bitter as Aidon!"
"You feel the bitterness of Aidon!"
"You feel bitter!"

This wasn't intended to be a druid version of CH. :) It also isn't a typical spell that can be scribed and used to full benefit immediately. The idea here is that a druid who consistently devotes more of his/her resources (time, exp, equipment) towards healing would be rewarded commensurately.

The initial percentages are actually a little lower than could be arguably proposed as a class balance measure. But by allowing those numbers to be enhanced over time through additional AA and focus items, it offers incentive and reward for druids who sacrifice the use of offensive gear for items which increase healing ability.

This new spell/AA combination would be more innovative than the typical scenario of scribing a spell which has instant value and enhancing it later with focus. After investing 3 Class AA, this would be a relatively low-percentage heal which "scales up" with the ever-increasing number of hit points characters have, but the percentage of that heal only increases for those who put forth the time and effort towards earning the spell's specific AA and heal enhancing focus items.

Great idea's and wishful thinking, but as of late I think all our ideas workable or not are falling on deaf ears :(
