I am not sure how feasible this is, or if its even a good idea, but here goes.

Everyone knows about the "time sinks" inherent in the SoL expansion. They suck. Emperor, k thx. I might see Vex Thal sometime in 2003, and my guild is not all that far down on the totem pull on E'ci.

We all also know about the "bane" damage on weapons. And the time sinks and trade skill requirements to make the weapons to do the high end fights.

We also know Verant's history of making previous expansions "easier" once a new expansion comes out or after a period of time. I.e, no keys needed for velious ports, removing the "in dungeon" requirement for the Kunark ports, etc.

What if druids were to receive a line of spells that, when cast on groupmates, rendered their weapons as effective (or probably slightly less effective to still make a reason for the time sinks) as a "bane" weapon? Melee's wouldn't need to bank their primal or epics anymore.

Nature's Bane - Serpent. Would allow melee weapons to act as bane type in Ssra. Make the spell a group only so there would be no TGB or MGB factor. Give it a long refresh timer so one druid could not skip from group to group. Heck, even code it so that the spell would only be effective while the druid is grouped with you.

And with the upcoming release of Pop, the line of spells could be expanded.

Nature's Bane - Aquatic would be effective against sea folk, or beings that inhabit Karana's Plane of Rain. (or whatever it will be called)

Nature's Bane - Fiery would be effective on Sol Ro's plane. (Loved the PoP image, have it as background on one of my PCs)

Doesn't seem to infringe on any other class. Would make us welcome in raid and exp grouping situations. And as long as the game didn't "require" this line of spells to succeed on any set encounter, but would make it easier, its not intended to make the druids "required". It would help remove some of the disgusting time sinks in the game. And could be brought in with the release of PoP around the time VI would be relaxing some of the restrictions that came with SoL. Would need balancing in some ways, perhaps mobs like the Ssra Emperor wouldn't drop enough to power 40 keys to VT.
