Which we rented last night and a copy magically appeared on our hard drive (how *did* that happen?)

Anyway, two thumbs up. The extras are great - and it's nice to see the film again.

All I can say is that I am and I am not looking forward to the marathon movie day when the eventual extended version of Return of the King is out and we watch 12 HOURS of LoTR.

I bought it yesterday, $13! Thought that was a pretty good deal :)

I love these movies...can't wait to see the extended version of the two towers based on what you can see in the preview.

I just watched the extended version of the fellowship of the ring and am so bummed they left out the gift part from the first one! That seems like such a great part of the story.

Anyway, watching the making of these movies really shows how brilliant the cast, crew and artists are. Can't wait until December for the return of the king. And btw, I haven't read the books (well read the first one) so I don't know how it's going to end and the suspense is killing me ;p (shhh, don't give it away either!)

There were several things in the FotR extended version that should not have been cut out. In my opinion, it was a much better movie in the extended version. Gandalf speaking the Black Speech in Rivendell was a powerful scene.

I've heard that Return of the King was close to 6 hours long before the final cut... that's a lot of cutting to get it down to a viewable length :(

I can imagine the full 3-movie extended version DVD will run 13-14 hours ... yikes!

As for the ending... I won't give it away, but if they can portray it on film the way I envisioned it in my head (when I read the books), it should be great :)

I've been forewarned by the BF that this will happen when the extended edition of RoTK is out.

Just an FYI for those who don't know, the running time of the extended edition Two Towers will be a whopping 3 hours and 45 minutes. Better get your ass some comfy cushions and lots of Guiness.

I'm from Wellington, New Zealand and was lucky enough to see a part of the Helms Deep seige being filmed. With another 30 or 40 odd thousand people. I was also lucky enough to be a part of the sound recording for the Orcs as they besieged the keep before the battle.

Haven't seen any extended versions yet, I am going to wait and see all 3 extended at the same time, so will start preparing my buttocks for the challenge by eating lots of "padding out" food!

All I can say is, Peter Jackson = legend, and I can't WAIT for RotK :)

(PS retired from EQ when I moved to London 6 months ago, and BOY do I miss it... still glad I can lurk on the boards for a mini-fix)
