This is an issue that I am interested in not only because I believe in our need to move out into space eventually and that such endeavours need to move out of the exlusive realm of the government. It is also of interest because this is where I live and work.

I was of mixed feelings about this. Bringing in new high-tech jobs is great. However, asking the farmers by the river to pay for something they will never use is a difficult thing to swallow. I beleive that was the general feeling and the reason the vote count was so close.

However, asking the farmers by the river to pay for something they will never use is a difficult thing to swallow. We taxpayers pay all the time for things we will never use; that is hardly controversial.

The real issue is whether the lifetime government revenue generated from this spaceport (and related industries, e.g., tourist facilities for rich people) will exceed the cost of building and operating it. If yes, then it's a boon to your government and taxpayers.
