I don't know why this surprised you; the LAPD are, by now, experts at beating up minorities.

They got caught on video beating an unarmed non violent passive news-camara-WOMAN on the head with a billy club.

This was on NPR as well, I think.

So here is where im confused... and probably the point... were the people with the cameras the aggressors? Were they doing anything but filming what was going on?

Typically one would hope our law enforcement officers would go after people who are actually a physical danger, and not just anyone within reach of their swinging weapons.

I also disagree with the scene where they took cover behind trees and aimed weapons, I am going to look for more footage if it exists, but I dont think such an aggressive stance needed to be taken unless the demonstration were sporting weapons and/or violent. Because nothing sets off a demonstrating crowd like attacking them.
