Does anyone know a good AC augment I could solo or one group that would fit in a slot 8 shield? I have several augs with ac in them, but none will fit in a secondary slot.

<a href="http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=52240">Crest of the Scarlet Legions</a> out of Ashengate, from a single group named.

<a href="http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=54394">Forged Froststeel Ingot</a> out of Frostcrypt, also from a single group named.

Good luck on competing against the tanks for those heh.

If you're a quest junkie there's <a href="http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=66928">Shield of the Otherworld</a> which is a monster time sink, but certainly its all one groupable.

I use the 20ac aug from MPG. From... whats that camp in the path on the way to RSS that used to be a see invis mob? Blind Hunter something?

Easy, take a tank that already has it, bribe the monk who thinks you're cute, and blackmail the ranger into using his crappy dice while you use your weighted ones. Oh wait, thats what I did :S

Jewel of the Stalwart from vald is another option. 30 ac, but no hp.

Hmm is it worth using an AC aug here?

AC in a shield is the best place for it. I've seen a noticeable difference in my mitigation with shield AC vs armor AC.

Ok so I put the ashengate AC aug in my shield today. Lost 10hps gained 30AC, not a bad exchange. Once I replace a couple more of my bad augs I may be tempted to remove the AC though to gain some more hps and mana.

Il have to see if I can tell the difference.

Here is a guide to the value of ac vs hp, and avoidance.

http://reborninfire.proboards91.com/index.cgi?board=guide&action=display&thread=1192313507

The basic point for shield ac is this: shield ac is special, its not subjected to the soft cap on worn ac, this guide states that
10ac on your shield = 250hp.
So a 30ac gain on shield is, according to this guide, equivalent to 750hp.

Note: this is true for shield ac only, not for other secondary slot items with ac.

so go out and get that best shield and ac aug! ( and if anyone has any info that contradicts this guide, please post. )

Anybody with a non-AC aug in their shield (with said aug not simply being a placeholder), is a dummy. :)
