My cat clicks when he walks.

It's kind of funny. I think maybe it's arthritis. He doesn't seem to be in pain, fortunately. I just think it's hysterical because I'll be in bed, reading... then I hear a quiet little "click, click, click" and I know pretty soon there is going to a cat with me.

Do you have hardwood floors? If so, maybe your cats nails need trimmed.

When our cat got to a certain age, she stopped sharpening her claws. They grew and grew, and she started clicking when she walked on hard floors :)

He clicks on carpet too. :) I watched him, examined his claws. Everything looks ok, just the lil guy clicks! Hah... his sneaking up on birds days are over.

Don't tell anyone, I click too! Especially going up stairs. /sigh

My fat cat clicks as well. He's about 10 years old and has be clicking for the past year or so. For him it's a combination of age and additional strain on his joints due to weight (he weighs about 20lbs) but try as I might I can't get him to lose weight without his little brother starving :( One bedroom apartments don't do well for seperate feeding stations and he can still jump up on counters when he has a reason (ie when the food dish is there). I'm thinking about getting a town house and placing food dish on one level and litter box on the other just to force the stair climbing exercise (one bedroom apartments also don't provide much excercise room for inside kitties).

Yeah, my clicker is a little on the pudgy side too. He has slimmed down a bit. I put him on diet food. He also LOVES to chase rocks across the yard (when he's in the right mood). So every evening I go out and skim a few rocks across the yard so he gets some running in. Or else I drag a grass weed across the brick wall and he'll chase that.

Have you thought about putting your cats on diet food and just feed treats to the skinny one? I know it's hard to get cats to diet. Man, they just think about nothing but food!

Oh wait... here's my suggestion. Feed the skinny cat, once or twice a day, some wet food that he loves in your bathroom with the door closed. Then grab the dish if there's any left, wrap it up and put it in the fridge for the next time. I have to feed my cats seperately because one has a heart condition and I grind up his meds and sneak them into his food. The other ones gets to have his meal outside, in the bathroom, or in the garage.

For the dry food, I wouldn't leave a bowl filled all the time. Skinny cat will catch on eventually that his special feeding sessions are for pigging out on. Meanwhile, be ready to be nagged to death by two hungry cats...
