Very sad indeed. He did wonderful things for gamers, pretty much the grand daddy of them all from the Final Fantasy series, Everquest, World of Warcraft, to other contemporaries in the gaming industry, like Legend of Zelda. Many of the roleplaying techniques used in dungeons and dragons translated over to real life occupations, from law enforcement and on.
