Any advice on good games for a GameBoy Advance for a 13-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy? The girl likes games like Mario and Animal Crossing, and the boy likes games like Zelda and EverQuest. Something with lots of replay value would be best since they'll play it on a month-long vacation. The only GameBoy games they have now are some older Pokemon games and Super Mario.

Dunno about the girl, but the guy should get Metroid Fusion.

The new Gameboy Advance version of the Pokemon games came out recently -- Ruby and Sapphire. I personally think their fun, but nothing new. FYI, you only swap Pokemon between these two games -- you cannot trade from (for example) Crystal to Sapphire.

Super Dodge Ball is a personal favorite of mine as well.

Good luck finding Super Dodge Ball - about the only place you can find it is online (I think J and R has some still). They did a very limited run and they usually sold out quick.

Get the girl one of the new Pokemon games (ruby or saphhire). I bet she'd love it (for that matter, the boy might too). Also Yoshi's Island is great. It's fairly challenging with lots of replay value. Also the new Kirby game is quite fun.

For the boy, I'd go with Lunar Legend or The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords. Replay value is limited, but it doesn't matter as much since they are fairly long. Also any of the Castlevania games are pretty fun.

I'd stay away from Metroid Fusion. It's pretty short and has little replay value. It is a good game, but doesn't fit your requirement of high replay value.

The girl asked for something called "Hamtara." Anyone familiar with that?

Hamtaro - it's a disgustingly cute new Japanese cartoon about hamsters. Completely kid safe. Your teeth with melt from the saccharine level in the game though... you thought Pikachu was cute... just imagine 10983 Pikachus all making some sort of weird "squeek" sound.

From the Hamtaro homepage (http://www.hamtaro.com/home.html):

Who or what is Hamtaro?
The cute and cuddly pet of fifth-grader Laura, Hamtaro is a golden hamster with an insatiable curiosity.

Together with the "Ham-Ham Friends," a bunch of hamsters as clever and unique as Hamtaro himself, Hamtaro lives each day as a whole new adventure...complete with fun, excitement, and friendship.

Better yet, the words of Hamtaro (http://www.hamtaro.com/ham-ham_words.html):
Badda-badda: Sound conveying the thumping of running feet.
Wasa-wasa: Sound Ham-Hams make when walking.

The girl might like Hamtaro, but I think the boy would probably try to open the emergency exit of the airplane before playing this game. :)

I just got my GBA SP yesterday (I got Super Dodge Ball today!) and the only game I bought was Castlevania something-something... uhh... the newest one out. It was pretty neat, but so far it doesn't seem any different from any of the other Castlevania series. I can't say it's not addictive though.

As for universal appeal, Pokemon is probably a good bet along with Yu-Gi-Oh. As much as I loathe trendy shows like those two, they are popular for a reason - and both Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh became popular through their games.
