Midnight audiences are loud and uninhibited. I am debating whether or not I want to see the midnight show near home or try to get tickets to see it Thursday in the IMAX theater at the Metreon, which means standing in line 2-3 hours before staff lets us inside 40 minutes before previews roll.

Crazy.

The hype here has been unbelievable.

So wait a couple days and let it die down. I would rather enjoy a movie sitting in solitude with my girlfriend rather than going through the crowded lines and sitting in the crowded theater.

Sure, they can and are all the time (IMAX movies are played during the afternoon, but after 8pm the theater can make XX dollars on a showing in that theater). It's a different projector, you know, one from any old theater. The projectionist just shows the 16:9 movie on the IMAX screen.

I think they made an imax version with it, but I can't remember the article.

aybe it just said it that this was the first time it was presented in IMAX and Theatres on the same day.... Or something.

They did not make a special IMAX version, they ported and converted it to the IMAX format. ie, It was shot on regular 35mm and not on 70mm IMAX cameras.

The CNN article that I read is no longer up, 404. But it was just a press release anyways, other sites have them up, just need to dig for them if you need.

Funny, The article that I read, said that the IMAX version was going to happen 2 weeks after general release. Guess that changed.

Yup, but I am seeing the 16:9 Matrix Reloaded in the IMAX theater, then when the IMAX version comes out, I'll resee it.

I have found that I can now only see movies at around 11 am or 12 in the afternoon on sundays, for several factors:

1) the parents of young children are just plain moronic idiots who have no idea how to make them shut the sam heck up. Their attitude seems to be "children make noise, I can't help it and you have to deal with it!" SCREW THAT. I've had people tossed out by the staff in theaters where their yowling brat would not shut up and I will again. Teach that kid to behave or hire a sitter.

2) teenagers of today, being raised on video movies privately screened in their home, act like they are at home in discussing it DURING THE MOVIE. I was appalled to see a couple young females doing this during a movie.
I even saw a teen ACTUALLY talking on a cell phone during a movie, I wonder if I could actually get in trouble for grabbing it and throwing it off in the distance somewhere over to the side.

Part of the problem is its often hard to get the people working at the theater to do much about it.

People should really learn how to behave, if they can't with someone else go alone to movies like I do. I started doing this about 12 years ago and now actually prefer it. What do you do at a movie? You watch it, so you can do that alone. If everyone went alone they'd be about 99 percent better behaved, except for my fellow alone movie watchers who talk to themselves (god.. I hope I don't start doing that)

Anyway, back to Sunday. For some reason it is the absolute best time to go. Parents are either still at Church or doing something like avoiding going out so people will not know that they are not at church and kids seem to be off somewhere. People don't get going on sunday until a bit late it seems.

For example, yesterday I saw X2 one week after it opened. The second row, where I like to sit for full effect in the center, was totally open as was the first and up to about 5 rows back. Except for some stupid igorant moron mother who had her yowling 3 year old twisting around in her lap in the back of the theater, the experience was pretty serene with no one talking.

I've come to the conclusion that I have to win the lottery or something to have a private theater, or simply spend the 350 or more dollars to rent the public one out for myself at off times. "So how many people will be seeing the matrix 2 with you at 9 am on sunday?"

"Just me, just me so you'll know to keep anyone else out including your staff."

So I'll do the same for the matrix, probably target 11 am sunday morning and see it with about 30 other people who are sitting way in the back like they always do, peasants!
This time if someone has a yowling kid I'll go and complain until they boot them.

An R rating is my favorite since that guaruntees a lack of ******s. Is the matrix R? I'll have to look. My favorite R rated movies are ones where they just said the "f" word once to get the rating ;)

The trailer looks great, but I'll wait a week. I never go to opening weekend of anything, cause I hate crowds.

I will admit there were some nice moments, but I think I woulda enjoyed it more if the first 30 minutes of the film just hadn't happpened.

y "drive by" opinion would be:

Pretty effects.

Pretentious dialogue.

Passionless performances.

** stars outta ****.

Here's a reviewer who best captured my feelings...

I'm just glad the product placement wasn't too bad. The only things I noticed were that Agents drive Audis, car chases are done in Caddy's, except for motorcycle chases which are done by Ducatti, and that damned ugly Motorola (?) phone.

In contrast, I found it quite enjoyable.

It's just a little sad when the spectacular teaser for 'Revolutions' at the end of the credits was better than anything in 'Reloaded'.

Which just goes to show how much a difference in taste can be. I didn't think the teaser was worth waiting through the credits for.

Great movie. . .fun as hell to watch . . .loved the detail and attention given to the action scenes

With one notable exception, I enjoyed the dialogue as well. . .already can see several directions they can take the story in the 3rd installment, should be killer
(need to see it again to take in some of the implications!)

I think a lot of the people who were disappointed with Reloaded expected it to be as stand-alone as the original Matrix was. There were a lot of, well not really plot holes, but more like loose ends, left at the end of this movie. Now, if after Revelations releases and those loose ends still remain, that's when you can start scratching your head and complaining about scripting.

The actions scenes were amazing, but I agree with another review I read somewhere else - there was a lot of martial arts style action, but what really made the original Matrix for me were scenes like "The Lobby". Not just gratuitous gun fights, but the pace and feel of that entire scene. The highway chase was amazing, but towards the end, it felt long and drawn out - the end of that chase was also a bit disappointing for me.

Actually, now that I think about it, anytime Neo flew, it felt like a cop out. It ended too many sequences. It was kind of like in Star Trek: TNG when Wesley would always save the day... towards the end, you didn't appreciate his character, you just wanted to smack the writers and say, "Again???"

I'm on the "yeah it was worth seeing, but Revelations better be damned impressive" bandwagon.

There was an article in the LA Times about there being 40 versions of Neos costume (different material, different draping) depending on the action he was engaged in (fighing, flying, walking, etc)

Here is da link LA Times Article

I loved it, except for the ending..... The fight scenes were great, non-stop action from beginning to end.......

I did not like it. I thought they could have cut 30 minutes out of the movie (most of the long, boring fight scenes, and the rave) and it would have been a much better movie.

It's all about portions. If you feed someone too much of a good thing, they develop a distaste for it. So it is with Matrix2.

Glut list:
- martial arts scenes. Spectacular but used too often and too long.
- rave/orgy scene. Titties and butts, again too long.
- pretentious monologue. How many times can you use the word "program" to describe programs? If Neo had asked the right question we would have been saved from Colonel Sanders' "choice" monologue. Neo perhaps should have asked: What are the 11 secret herbs and spices?

It is not a bad movie by any stretch but it failed to live up to the high standard set by the first movie.
