I've been a casual EQ'r for 3 years now. I tried DAoC (beta+a few months) but wasn't taken by it.

Anyone tried AC2 yet? I've only heard reviews from people who didn't seem to know EQ well. I'm kinda curious if you like EQ if you will like AC2?

Without NPC's, it seems like it might get a little lonely... I don't know how the quests work either.

thanks

AC2 is very nice looking excrement. There's no game under those pretty graphics.

Unfortunately, Vopi is right.

I agree, I only played the Beta, but it still has things I don't much like. I thought it was really neat at first, it does look nice and it is kinda fun, but there's just not a whole lot to do. And the lack of NPCs was horrible =-(

Well, I decided to give it a shot... spent $44 and got it home to find that there is no CD key in the box :(

It was unopened too... no help from Tech Support so far...

This does not bode well :(

Well, finally got my cd key problem sorted out and played AC2 some this weekend.

It's a nice looking game, but unfortunately there's not really that much content to entertain a player long term.

Leveling is much too easy in my opinion. You can quest and kill a few mobs and before you know it you're level 20. In just 2 hours of play time Saturday I'm level 10, and that includes a couple deaths which meant making trips clear across the continent from my lifestone to get back to a quest area:)

There are some geography exploits that have been widely publicized and abused, so there are a lot of level 50s already.

The storyline is that you've left a safe shelter and are part of a band of people rebuilding Dereth. What this means in reality is that there isn't really anything to do yet. Very few NPCs (no vendors or bankers in fact). Evidently, they will be releasing more content each month in the form of "chapters" which will expand and build the world, simulating the rebuilding that is done by the players.

It's a nice theory in concept, but with the leveling curve so short, there are a lot of level 50s with nothing to do for now.

While it's a nice looking game visually, it runs pretty dodgy on my computer (P3 500/384 ram, GEForce 3) which is below the minimum specs, but not by much. I get lots of video lag (lots and lots) to the point where it's a major annoyance. If I can't get that solved by turning off some settings, and there isn't much to do at higher levels, I doubt I'll be playing it long :\
