I was just wondering if any of you older and wiser than me people (22 here from az) could help me out with some political stuff.

Basically I want to know what you guys think is the best way to get rid of Saddam, it seems to me that Bush version 1.0 should have brought him to justice (ie some form of termination, although im against the death penalty) when he had the chance.

Now if you zip forward to Bush version 2.0, I am not sure what he has planned in his head, but I am hoping he takes care of business this time. Although, one of my good friends told me this, if you kill [Saddam], another [derogatory] is gonna rise up in his place.

Frankly, I don't see anyway to make peace with that country, we destroyed it, then we help it, and now we are on the edge of combat again with them. Theres always going to be angry brothers, friends, and family to deal with.

I am just a little worried about what these next few years are going to be like for the US and other countries. Since 09/11 I just don't feel safe here anymore, kind of like there is an unstoppable force of armageddon coming. Nuclear and Biological war is what scares me the most out of all of this, I just wish that the world could get along, as Gandalf said, "Don't be so eager to deal out death and judgement."

Well if anyone can offer any insight, or calm my fears a little, I would appreciate it, thank you much.

I think the Muslim world has to police itself.
The Christian world has had to deal with such monsters as Hitler and others.
How about that maniac from Yugolslavia . (Milslovic?) who was exterminating Muslims(btw). The Christian world rose up in arms to stop him.
They have to deal with their own monsters as the Christian world has.
If they need help we'll give it . Other than that , we should mind our own business

Best way to get rid of Saddam.

Not put him into power in the first place? Not hand Iraq over to a despot because we "thought" he would be better. Not back the Hussein family during the Iran Hostage crisis because we thought they would be a great ally if war erupted with Iran?

I dunno - they way I see it - if American politics hadn't placed Hussein and bin Laden in they places they are, we wouldn't have had so many problems now.

But now we have to deal with our folly. While I disagree with President Bush on a great many things, I do have to admit that he played an incredible hand against the UN. The speech we heard was not a plea to the UN - it was a threat. Here's why...

By going alone against Iraq, we make the UN obsolete. Bush basically told them, "Either back up your sanctions, or get the hell out because you're worthless." If America attempts to oust the Hussein "regime" without the support of the UN, he turns the entire thing into a farce, unequivicably saying they are all talk. If you want anything real done in the world, you have to do it yourself. If the UN can't make good on Iraq, who in the world thinks they can do a damned thing against super-powers. (The up-and-coming China included)

Pure genius, and a hand that should have been played eight years ago. The UN NEEDS to be what they were designed to be, an international council, guide, and police force per se. What the political scheming of Bush v2.0 did was reinforce world mumblings. And to be honest, having the US booted of the Human Rights Council probably did not endear the UN to the Bush clan.

So, how do we get remove the Hussein "regime"? By doing exactly what we are doing... banging a lot of pots and pans and forcing accountability upon those that should have it.

This is, of course, just my opinion and any thoughts within are not to be considered viable, sane, or otherwise thought provoking.

Tactical(small) neutron bombs... I bet a bunker would have to be pretty hard to resist that..and it wont even mess up the scenery. I think I'm kidding...been playing too much "black & white" i guess

well, i think Bush should have went to the UN Council for a stronger resolution first, then go about beating the war drum. i'm not surprised about the French and Germans resisting the idea of America waging war on Iraq, but i am disappointed with their harsh criticism of the US. the US resistance to joining the ICC probably didn't help the matter, but i still don't see why they needed to bash America on the matter.

the general fear of the US invading Iraq are in 3 parts.

1) it sets a bad precedent for other countries. if the country that has called on people to negotiate before shooting their guns turns back on its own policy, then where will be the US moral high ground against things like China invading Taiwan? US credibility will be at stake and our failure to living up to what we preach to others will hurt us in the future.

2) most markets (if not all) are struggling worldwide. Europe, Asia, South America, and America are all experiencing a recession, or stagnated growth. if the Middle East destablizes due to our war with Iraq, then markets will probably deteriorate further. a lot of countries right now are more concerned with their economic recovery than some threat posed by a despot sitting in Iraq.

3) the last concern, if not the most important, is the end result of another war with Iraq. the US would need to make sure it brings order to that region quickly after ousting Saddam. furthermore, the US will have to expect more anti American sentiment from Arabs (and many non Arab Muslims) that could result in more radical groups that target Americans abroad. its almost a sure bet that Saddam will use biological and chemical weapons on Isreal this time around, so Isreal's involvement is pretty much gauranteed. the danger of this war being viewed as a crusade by the West and Isreal is pretty real. should we care? seeing how it is already difficult for some Arab regimes to assist the US in the war against Al Qaeda, the answer would be yes. a miscalculation on the part of the US could result in the US being in a difficult quagmire both militarily and politically.

If it's any consolation, we still train assassins, torturers, interrogaters, and terrorists on American soil, right in Georgia. It's called School of the Americas and is sponsored by the US Military. Google search engine can help you find all that interesting information.

Give Saddam a free EQ account. He'll forget all of his mad RL ambitions once he's addicted.

Yeah, but he'd play on a PvP server and would most likely be a grief player to boot.
