Recently my comp froze and it wouldnt shut down so i turned the surge protector off, i then turned it back on to get this

Windows 98 is starting
Windows is now bypassing your startup files

I tried putting in my install disk but it didnt do anything but bring up a: in dos. Anyone got an idea?

(If i let it start up in like this it goes into safe mode)

Thanks....... Again

You solve this yet? If you're not pressing F5 or Shift to bypass the startup files, it could mean that the startup files on your disk (or something else) was corrupted. Unlike Win2K with NTFS, if your computer is shut down unexpectedly during a disk write, the OS could be borked. I'd suggest renaming your windows directory (for a backup) and doing a reinstall, unless you can be more specific about the problem.

But my preferred solution: get Win2K. <img src=http://lag9.com/biggrin.gif>
