I've heard, read, etc that there is some boar in the pit that is charmable.

After several attempts and trying to charm mobs in the pit, I've not found one that I "can" charm. It seem like all the boars are 61-63 level area. Am I just getting unlucky or is there a specific target I should be looking for. Maybe a boar named "Lowbee War Boar for Druid charm", I've not found that mob yet :p

It was frustrating enough when the "crows" there aren't even animals :p . As most folks know that have played in tactics, this isn't an area where you can "easily" run to exit. Hard hitting 500 double attacking stunning casting mofos end up picking there teeth with my leafblower

There's 1 type of boar we can charm (aside from the little piglet for dc)..I can't remember the exact name - A dacarious boar or something like that. It's lvl 60 and a rogue, so has less hps and doesn't make a great tank. On top of that he's very rare - about as rare as the little dc piglet.

OK, so really outside of root/rot, soloing in tactics for a druid is pretty, well, rare to non-existant at best :(

Pretty much. I do see people agro kiting the ogres with melee friends chasing them around though near the zone in heh Doesn't seem like much of a way to get exp to me.

Oh btw, we can charm the boars in the stables too. Had one of those as a pet today, was pretty nice, held charm for quite a while

I have duo'd the ogres there near the zone-in with both a shaman and a ranger at various time, and the exp was decent really. I like to do different things, so it was ok with me.

If you are willing to take the time and eat a few deaths you can figure out how to solo in Tactics. It's good xp, 3-5% a kill since the charm nerf, xp differs from mob to mob. Also you can pick up some not bad cash loots if you get lucky.
Anyway, yes it is possible but this place has a steep learning curve and is not for everyone, if you were one of the people soloing deep in the mines of chardok pre-PoP you'll enjoy it here though.

It is very possible to solo here. I have know a 63 dru who does in stable area with a charmed boar. You can also dot kite up top in the safe room.

From GY, invis and run to the edge of the pit. Then go LEFT and run straight into the room there. Nothing spawns or paths in there.

Root does not hold well at all so I don't bother. I usually pull with epic and kite till I get snare to stick. Sometimes you get a mob that resists snare 7 times in a row or more. Don't fret, resists are RANDOM so keep trying. Once snared kite around and cast swarm line dots till dead. KEI helps alot as always. Bind just outside for when you need to refresh SOE.

Dangers:

There is a rare trap in this zone though, somewhat similar to the wandering mob traps in The Grey but much much much more rare. It is an undead mob so if you trigger it root it and egress if you can't kill it. I have only seen two of them in all my time killing here.

Anything that is a red/yellow con (at 65) summons, blues do not.

Some of the ogres are Shadow Knights. They will HT you and rarely try to snare you. I have only been snared once and he keeled me pretty quick. Exodus is handy when this happens. Not ALL SK ogres will try to snare you.

In the pit, there are see invis mobs. Can't remember the name right off, but they are the winged ones. They can also snare, root and dot. If you see that you have agro on one, I suggest running for zone before he gets a spell on you.

NAMED. There are a few named mobs in the pit that drop some nice items. If you duo with a chanter or another charmer they make nice targets.

summory:

This is a sweet zone to solo in if you have access. IMO better than all others for fast exp once you learn some 'tactics'. I highly suggest getting a few groups here before soloing. Charm groups own in the pit. Necro's, druids and enchanters can all charm in pit. Oddly enough one of the most benificial classes I have found in a charm group has been a Pally. As soon as charm breaks they chain stun for you to recharm.

This can be a really fun zone. Good luck,
