I often get to heal the pullers for my guild in NToV, and I have a good time at it. As long as I'm doing it, I want to do it really well. I've got the basics (communicating about timing and such) pretty well, and the pullers seem to think I'm a good healer, but now I want to go beyond that.

From those of you who've healed pulling groups at this level and beyond, and think you do a really good job, I'd like to ask what you do that makes you really good at it.

Thanks!

I made a monk and played her untwinked and un-powerlevelled for 61 levels and 3 years. I learned how to pull and thus how to heal pullers!

If you dont wanna do all that, I do really recommend learning exactly what your pull team is doing during a pull, why and when they are doing it. Communication, as you know, is key, until you get that specific pull down pat.

If you can talk someone into it, even give pulling a shot via someone elses monk/sk/bard/rog/ranger or yourself even. Pulling is all about knowing the mechanics of the situation, the area, and the mobs. Once you learn em, that's it.

Definately worth reading.

Only difference is that a damaged monk comes in two forms: the successfully feigned one, and the fallen to the ground one.

Heal the later and things will get ugly.

I typically won't heal a monk/puller until I see him in camp up and fighting or unless he asks for it. In *most* other situations its not worth the risk to your raid. Your pullers have died before, they're used to it, they expect it. One dead puller is better than a 40 man wipe. It takes all of about 5 minutes or so to get the puller back on his feet and pulling but would take 30+ minutes to get a complete raid back into the swing of things.

Still, if you want to maximize efficiency, heres some tips:

As you already know, communication is most important. If he FDs, doesn't know a heal is coming, and stands up before the heal lands then your in bad shape if aggro wasn't cleared.
Know your puller and his style.

Know your puller. The more you know about your puller's habits, the better off you'll be able to heal with little risk.

Unless he asks for it, NEVER heal your puller if you can't see him. If you can see your puller/mobs, the risk goes down considerably cause its easier to ascertain whats going on.

Know the pulls as a previous poster mentioned. The more you know about whats being pulled and the dynamics of it, the better your judgement will be on wether to heal or not.

Beware of Casters. Bad timing can ruin your day.
