In the beginning, we got Verm. And it was chain.

Later we got Elder Spiritist. And it was chain.

Then we got Velious quest. And it made us look like newbies.

Then we got Judgement. And we were again, in chain.

Now we've got Kerasha's. And now, again, we look like newbies.

The time has come for VI to change the graphics on Kerasha's to chain. This is a simple thing to do and would go a long ways to differentiating elder druids from their younger breathren.

I use the same argument that was used back in the days of Verm. High end druid armour are status symbols. They should look the part!

LOL....even in chain, we still look like newbies.

If you want to look uber, go bright canary yellow or fluorescent orange. No one would believe that any self respecting druid would ever dye their outfit that color, so it MUST be some superduper elemental banana armor (tell them it drops from some level 70 bard named Chiquita in the Plane of Fruit....)

Well, at least chain makes you look over level 20. :)

Chain is what defined an elder druid back in the olde days. I remember back before Velious and seeing a druid in full Elder Spiritist and thinking ... Wow, nice gear. Then the Velious quest stuff came out every high level druid looked like they were in green ulthork and thinking ... Awww, how sad.

It was a joy to see DRU only Elysian and, all be it shared, Judgement armour with chain graphics. Kerasha's should be chain!

There is no reason why it shouldn't be. I can't believe no one cares enough to look good AND feel good at the same time!

Personally I love being able to customize my look. Back in the day I switched to a Brown Chitin Protector and Black Chitin Leggings, despite the inferior stats, just to look neat, while every other dorf-killing druid was going around wearing MRT's and such.

And I *loved* the look of my full set of Elder Spiritists... nice dark green chain. Vermi was kind of a sickly light green, didnt like that. But the chain looked nice, especially on Luclin models.

I agree... we need more chain!

Uber badge of status indeed. Some of us would rather wear lesser items for the "look" of it than for the stats. An elemental bracer is better than whatever chain bracer that drops off of those PoFire mini-minis. Those dru/mnk/bst legs that drop from the easy named in PoWater is better than Seru legs. Kerasha's arms are better than Silver Chains.

It isn't about being uber! It's about looks! And frankly, I just want to look like I'm above level 20 while still being able to do my job at the raid.

Give me something to look forward to! I won't wear the Druid Timeless Tunic even if they put 300mana and insta-click Careless Lightning on it. Nor will I spend dkp on Kerasha's leggings. Nor Kerasha's Arms. Hell, I won't roll on those items if the guild somehow decided that they were /random.

There is no upgrade path for the fashionable druid in PoP. Just miles and miles of endless leather.

07-25-2003, 02:38 PM
P.S.
Yes, I bought one leather bracer, some boots and the gloves because they can either be hidden or don't "look" like leather on first inspection.

But tunic, arms and legs ... sadness. Pure sadness.

I must say I have never liked the bare-headed look but since I recently got the cap off Brynju I've had to grin and bear it. I basically went back to a newbie look and changed my hair color and added mutton chops. It was the best I could come up with. Too many no-graphic helms for priest and/or leather classes in this game!

have killed that "easy" named since the patch. . not quite so easy~

Bah, no newbie wear leather anymore anyway, only ones wearing leather are druids and BL's nowadays.

Leather look is fine, and having no helmet graphics is definitively the better of the two. *grin*

I hate the chain look. That's why I have no Elysian. I'm happy in leather, especially given that we can dye it any color. We're a leather-wearing class. What's wrong with that?

PS: I also go with no helmet graphics.

With the armor dyes now, there's no way to tell someone is wearing - I think the defining element "at first glance" is what's in your primary and secondary slots...

Got the MM blade - okay, you've done MM.

Got that thing from VT - okay, you've done VT. etc.

Besides, when you're in full Elysian (i.e. before armor dyes), you just look like a newbie ranger. =)

I remember fondly oohing and aahing a druid in full crystal chit or in full verm or elder...even full cobalt drake. They had a "look". But now with armor dyes, you can look like anything.

Personally, who cares?

When I was playing, I was awarded a leather tunic that was orange - so I changed my arms and legs to match. I was also wearing slime boots, so I dyed my gloves and bracers dark red to match. Done - I match and I have a look.

Aldane is a human druid. Physical description: red hair, red beard (wanted him to look like a grizzly outdoorsman, so went with the red haired human model pre-Luclin, and I carried it over once I turned on the new human models, which I prefer). There's only one problem: in leather, with the firey beard and red hair, Aldane looks like the only thing he's missing is a Hell's Angels vest and a tattoo on his arm that says "I Brake for Wood Elf Chicks." So, I prefer the chain look (no helmet graphic here, either, by the way). :)

Only problem with chain these days is that chain isn't so "non-newbish" anymore. If anyone has a main that is capable of hunting Elysians, his or her lowbie druid alt is likely to be wearing Elysian.

personally i get tired of the same look since lvl 1 with leather, and chain looks soso on halfling, but i dig my hairy feel, its an instant turn on for the girls that are willing to try something new.... on the helmet issue, i love my custom kromzek king helm, as my friends say looks like i am wearing my protective helmet so i dont fall and hit my head.

As a female half-elf druid, let me say that anything would be better than the thong:( I do get comments about it and it's not a huge deal but I would much prefer something that at least covers the basics. Leather anything but legs is fine, I actually prefer the leather tunic to chain. Maybe something where you could combine your leather piece with a sheet of nifty-special-crafted metal to create "Reinforced Kerasha's Sleeves" or something. The only effect would be to change the graphic from leather to chain.

female wood elf druid here. was on a shopping spree the other day and picked up a sanguine cap, plopped it on me head and 2 zones later caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. i am right back in my sturdy old bellows crafted cap.

ok so i'm not uber and stuff :) but i vote no hat graphics too!

ps: i won't let my barbarian shaman husband wear hats, either. nor does he get to carry his wallet in his back pocket. bleh

pps: chain = good too! just not on my head ><

So many on here are still a bunch of whiners -- umm, warriors look the same for every level of the game now... do they need super-duper plate or something so you can tell them apart from the folks wearing player-crafted stuff? and I guess the robes should get leather robes to make them look better!!

Why not be sensible and ask for something better -- Different armor patterns and designs!!!!! I do not want that fag skirt chain look ever again, but some special appearance leather with a design to it to make it different would be a nice change.

I think the only issue I have with the new models is that the leather graphics on Luclin models shows a lot of skin. A LOT. I absolutely adored the velious textures since they looked great pattern-wise and didn't turn me into Ms. Cleavage. I was so happy when I got my mischief bp! Now with the Luclin models, I don't have a choice in my leather style, it all looks the same, and I feel like a bondage queen.

The only reason I'd prefer the chain over the leather nowadays is that the chain leaves more to the imagination. Prancing around Norrath in the Luclin models is awfully drafty otherwise. :)

<-- Female half elf druid.

I miss pants. I really miss pants. I remember buying some tizmak leggings when I was level 20 or so, and omg, they looked like pants. Then I upgraded to trusty KML's, also pants.

I have to say that I vastly prefer the Luclin character models, but the thong looms large in my future. I've been wearing Elysian, but slowly am adding ornate to my wardrobe. Bleh, another thong. It's disappointing.

Hi, care about something important. We have armor dies now.

Quote:
Hi, care about something important. We have armor dies now.[/quote]

As stated earlier, dyes won't make leather into chain. Getting away from the leather look is and has been a druid concern for a very long time.

As for other important things ... Uber vs Casual? Answer: VI loves casual more than uber. Why you ask? Casual players simply take up less bandwidth. Which would you rather have in terms of server loads? Someone who plays 20 hours a day or someone who plays 30 mins a day? Everyone pays the same $12 but you can fit 40 causal player in the same bandwith space that you can one hardcore player. Seems more profitable to want casual players no?

Okay, maybe that's not so important. What are the hot topics at DG lately... Solo nerfs. Yeah, nerfs are bad. We complain and get nerfed anyway. Zone revamps. Content is always a good thing. Improved AA's. We have our inputs, it's in the Dev's hands now.

Okay, not of these are important either. Or have already occured and are discussed in a past tense manner.

What we have here is the equivalent of a slow news week. And just like KNBC doing a feature on the latest fad in low cut jeans for young girls when they are having a slow news week, we are doing a feature on chain gear for druids.

FyyrLuStorm

Well it does prove that people do not have a sense of humor.

It explains a lot of things.

To avoid the bondage leather queen look, I run with /dopropertinting off ... so it looks like I have a coloured leotard underneath the leather bits.

I'd still prefer chain, though! I like the chain skirt look.

And seriously.. what is up with people flaming this otherwise fun thread? Just STFU and dont post if you dont like it.

imo, if you look like a level 10 noob from 1999 in his first leather armour or a level 30 ranger in luclin, it's all the same....

.... so long as there's a carrot in your backpack and you know where your towel is.

but if i had to care (and i do!) i'd be less worried about those wearing thongs, than those of us male wood elves who have our codpiece strapped on the OUTSIDE of our leather leggings... who in the nine hells dressed us? even the blackest of dies can't hide the fact that you, as an elf, cannot dress yourself properly in the morning.
