There is a rumour saying that the Saryrn encounter is bugged and makes the zone crash. Has anyone experienced it?

Oh yeah, big time. First time my guild attempted Saryrn about a week ago the zone crashed. We thought it was because we pushed her through the wall. The second time we attempted it we made damn sure to keep her away from walls and the zone still crashed. We even had a GM there to witness it. One of our members said he saw Sorrowsong path into a corner and thinks that might be the cause but we don't know for sure. Some people I talked to said it's been like that for awhile. No wonder it's uncontested on our server, it's not even doable! Its crap like this that SoE should be worrying about instead of doors in Freeport because without Saryrn we can't advance that part of the storyline or progress any further in PoP.

While they're at it I wish they would fix RD's room too. It has a tendency not to respawn after a failure(maybe even a success too, not sure). It's also something that has been around for awhile I think. Are you out there Absor/SoE?

Saryrn backflagging ended in the same way for us a couple days ago, first sapwn of bird adds and the zone poofed.

It's a disgrace that it wasnt fixed immediately (stories been bouncing around for some time), we now have people basically locked out of the areas the guild can go to.

Happening on TP as well. Heres a link I found on Everquest.com. Unfortunately they locked it for not being a "technical" issue. If you could follow the link and send an email to the dev's and/or /feedback in game, maybe we can get this acknowledged or god forbid fixed by SOE.

I'll probably never have to worry about it. It's a bit coincidental that there is another thread talking about how people burned through PoP content.

People are going through PoP and hitting 65 (and maxing aa's) very quickly after it all comes out, and now a needed encounter is bugged :P

There have been a few reports of a way around the zone crash problem. What you have to do is not kill any adds before you kill Saryn. For those unfamiliar with the encounter, when you fight Saryn, 3 adds spawn roughly every 10% of Saryn's health. Generally, raids kill each set of adds in turn, then go back beating on Saryn until the next set of adds spawns. Doing this currrently causes the zone to crash, usually on the second set of adds. If you leave all the adds up, and make sure you fight Saryn away from any walls/corners, and focus on dropping Saryn as fast as possible, the zone doesn't crash.

The difficulty with this, of course, is that its a tactic that only guilds far beyond Saryn (elemental guilds, etc) are going to have a hope in hell of pulling off. You'll need to CC (via charm, mez, root, kiting, etc, etc) something on the order of 25-30 adds in total, and then clear those adds after Saryn dies. That's probably out of the question for a guild actually trying to kill Saryn for the first time.

Wouldn't at be about 90 adds if it's 3 for every 10% of hp? 90-120? I don't see how anyone could manage that.

What I've read is that you can kill adds, just make sure to leave at least one up...

Sorry for being quiet on this for so long.

We've got a potential fix for her that we're going to try to roll out tomorrow.

Long story short is that there was a pretty bad memory corruption bug that occurred as a result of some optimization that had to happen as a part of Lost Dungeons.

If you leave one or more of the set of three adds alive, the event won't crash the zone. Some memory is being overwritten on the server when the last of the duplicate creatures dies. Any time after that, the zone is primed to crash.

Thanks to all the folks who mailed in their experiences that helped nail this one down.

Crimson Eternity of Emarr killed Saryrn today, bugged and all.... It's doable. (also our first time to kill her and the last block for the guild for solro)

1 hour later... they zone goes down for a patch... /grumble

But we did it when it was still hard, and I am VERY proud of my guild tag and my excellent guildmates.
